The Opportunity:

We are seeking a Geophysical Technologist/Technician to support our East Geophysics and Exploration teams with the full-lifecycle management of seismic workstation projects and data. The ideal candidate will have strong technical skills, a detail-oriented mindset, and a solid understanding of geophysical principles as applied to oil and gas exploration and development.
- Job location: Calgary, Alberta
- Shift schedule: 5 x 2, 8-hour shifts
- Safety sensitive position: No

Key Accountabilities:
- Responsible for creating, updating, and maintaining multiple geophysical projects; troubleshooting database issues for Geophysicists (including support calls with 3rd party vendors), and the retrieval, cleaning, and organizing of multi-disciplinary datasets for further analysis by asset team members
- Load seismic data, grids, tops, well survey and trajectory data into software packages such as Seisware, SubsurfaceAI, Hampson & Russell, Starsteer, & Geosyn
- Import and export data to and from additional databases such as Geographix, Starsteer, & Accumap
What You Bring to the Role:
- Attention to detail and an effective communicator - can liaison and work with multiple individuals simultaneously to load data correctly and punctually with minimal amount of error (candidate will support 10+ geophysicists and 4 managers)
- Strong computer skills is a must (high proficiency with MS office suite in addition to specific geophysical software requirements outlined above)
- Strong understanding of SEGY seismic data structure, i.e. header info, byte locations, 32 vs. 16-bit data, EBCIDIC, as well as directional survey expertise with multilateral horizontal wells
- Familiar with data analytics and dashboard creation with tools such as Tableau, Python, & Power BI is considered a key asset
- Strong GIS skills are also considered an asset (ArcGIS, GWC, etc.)
- Willingness to upgrade and learn new skills and develop new workflows to support the Geophysical team as business unit needs continue to evolve
