About the role
General Information:
Casual Cashier Receptionist opportunities are available in the Ticket Centre at the Cowichan Community Centre, within the Community Services Department at the Cowichan Valley Regional District. Reporting to the Administration & Facility Booking Coordinator, the Cashier Receptionist is responsible for the reception duties within the Cowichan Community Centre at the Ticket Centre. This includes meeting and greeting the public, answering telephone and in-person inquiries, routing information, and performing a variety of other tasks such as program registration, ticket sales, and merchandise sales.
Qualifications:
- Secondary school graduation plus cash / clerical / computer training, or an equivalent amount of education, training, and experience.
- Related experience, in a customer services capacity and working with cash and balancing daily cash receipts, or equivalent combination of skills, education, and training.
- Familiarity with the operation of standard business equipment, including computers and a multi-line telephone system.
- Basic First Aid certificate

Hours of Work:
Due to the nature of this casual work, it will be necessary to work a variety of shifts including days, nights, and weekends. This casual opportunity has no guaranteed hours of work.
Salary:
The wage rate is in 3 steps as per the Collective Agreement between the CVRD and CUPE Local 358, $25.59 ‑ $26.28 ‑ $27.07 per hour (2025 rates), plus an additional 14.5% pay in lieu of vacation, benefits and statutory holidays.
