About the role
The Senior Manager, Strategy is a dedicated resource managing a small team for the development of strategies for the business. This role will have high exposure to the business' senior leadership team while leading projects and working teams of various sizes, potentially composed of resources from various business groups and functions across BMO. The Senior Manager is responsible for the initiation of initiatives, developing a fact base, identifying high-value issues, surfacing strategic options, conducting key analyses, forming recommendations, developing key performance indicators (KPIs), and helping management teams reach consensus.
This role is also accountable for managing ongoing relationships with all business roles involved with strategy formulation.
The Senior Manager is also the lead for performance insights, accountable for the delivery and oversight of reporting and performance insights for the business.
- Breaks down strategic problems and analyzes data and information to provide insights and recommendations.
- Applies expertise and thinks creatively to address unique or ambiguous situations and to find solutions to problems that can be complex and non-routine.
- Defines business requirements for analytics and reporting to ensure data insights inform business decision making.
- Effectively communicates key messages / recommendations as a trusted advisor to the business' senior leadership team.
- Leads project working teams.
- Establishes working relationships within business groups and other corporate functions.
- Fosters a culture aligned to BMO purpose, values and strategy and role models BMO values and behaviours in all that they do.
- Ensures alignment between values and behaviour that fosters diversity and inclusion.

Qualifications:
- 2+ years of experience working for a strategy consulting firm or in an equivalent internal strategy team environment is required.
- Typically 5+ years of relevant experience and post-secondary degree in related field of study or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
