🌟 About Skipping Stone

Skipping Stone connects Two-Spirit, trans and gender-diverse people with affirming and comprehensive support. Our team shows up with heart, kindness, and an unwavering commitment to equity. We are a Calgary-based, trans-led nonprofit working across health, wellness, community, and advocacy. We prioritize sustainability, collective care, and alignment with decolonial and anti-oppressive practices.

🧠 About the Role

We are looking for a Registered Psychologist to join us as a key member of our integrated care team. In this role, you’ll provide affirming, trauma-informed, and culturally responsive care to Two-Spirit, trans and gender-diverse clients, while also contributing to our broader approach to care, healing, and community support. This position is a key collaborator within the organization that helps shape how care is delivered in trans communities, with creativity, nuance, and depth.

We recognize the barriers to registration, and are open to applicants who are provisionally registered, provided they already have an approved supervisor and will independently manage supervision costs.

🔍 Responsibilities

• Support clients, including youth 16 & 17 years old, access affirming healthcare by providing readiness assessments, as required by physicians.

• Provide individual and family therapy for Two-Spirit, trans and gender-diverse clients, using affirming and anti-oppressive frameworks

• Support front-line program staff with reflective practice and care consultation

• Collaborate with our leadership circle to strengthen clinical pathways and community care practices

• Stay current on best practices in affirming mental health care, and bring that learning into organizational conversations

• Engage in internal training, team wellness initiatives, and collective leadership spaces

• Maintain documentation, ethical standards, and registration with the College of Alberta Psychologists

• Experience with group therapy environments and/or program design would be an asset, though not required.

🙌 You Might Be a Great Fit If You:

• Are a Registered (or provisional) Psychologist in Alberta (or able to transfer your registration)

• Have experience working with trans and gender-diverse people in therapeutic contexts

• Use trauma-informed, anti-racist, anti-colonial, and harm reduction practices in your work

• Value cultural humility, collaboration, and boundary-conscious care

• Are interested in working at the intersection of individual healing and systemic change

🌱 What We Offer • Salary: $90,000 - $105,000/year (or prorated, if part-time)

• Comprehensive benefits including health/dental/mental health coverage

• Generous vacation and leave policies

• Flexible scheduling

• Deeply values-aligned, trans-affirming, and justice-centered team culture

• Full support for professional licensing, insurance, and growth — so you can focus on care, not costs.

⚖ A Note on Pay & Equity

We are committed to transparent and equitable compensation. This role falls in our C3 / C4 bands, which includes leadership roles with strategic responsibility and organizational care labour. Our pay structure was developed using third-party salary benchmarks, the living wage, compression limits, and a decolonial equity audit. We especially encourage applications from Two-Spirit people, trans and gender diverse individuals, BIPOC, disabled folks, and those with lived experience navigating gender-affirming care systems.

📬 How to Apply

Please send your CV and letter sharing your interest, approach to care, and any practice frameworks that guide your work to Lindsay Peace at info@skippingstone.ca. Applications will be reviewed as they are received and the posting will remain open until the role is filled. Interviews may be conducted throughout the application process. If you’re unsure whether you meet all the qualifications, we still encourage you to apply — we value potential, commitment, and alignment with our values as much as credentials.
