About the role

We are currently seeking skilled Journeyman Welders to join our team. This position will mainly be field based with some shop work. The Tunneling Company offers a range of fit-to-purpose tunneling solutions, including Guided Boring, Down-the-Hole Hammer, Auger Boring, Pipe Ramming and more. We manage the entire process from pre-planning and design through to construction.

Responsibilities and Duties

  • Fitting and welding large casing pipe (12” - 126” in diameter)

  • Fitting and welding various steel components required for trenchless casing installations

  • Ability to perform Submerged Arc Welding (SAW), experience with other welding methods would be beneficial: Gas Metal Arc (GMAW), Shielded Metal Arc (SMAW) & Flux-Cored Arc (FCAW)

  • Operate pipe beveling equipment

  • Perform oxyfuel cutting when required

  • Perform repairs to welding equipment such as welding machines, torches, bevelers, etc.

  • Use hand tools, small power tools and portable equipment as required

  • Welding, cutting, and grinding tasks as required

  • Responsible for loading and unloading equipment on/off delivery and transportation vehicles, which may involve rigging and hoisting.

  • Provide manual labour and ground support for moving equipment and materials on the worksite

  • Position and set-up drilling equipment

  • Maintain worksite & equipment, ensure material organization and cleanliness

  • Participate in safety meetings, completing FLHA’s and Hazard ID’s

  • Perform other duties as required

Experience and Training Requirements
Required

  • 2+ years welding experience

  • 2+ years experience with Submerged Arc Welding (SAW)

  • CWB Certified

  • Journeyman Red Seal

  • Valid Class 5 Driver Licence with a clean drivers abstract & reliable transportation

  • Successfully pass a pre-employment drug & alcohol test prior to employment

  • Successfully complete a 50lbs, Level II Health Assessment

  • Required to successfully pass a welding competency test prior to employment

Asset

  • Safety tickets including but not limited to Standard First Aid CPR-C & AED, Rigging Training, WHMIS 2015

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Customer focused with a team player attitude
  • Proven ability to handle multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Attention to detail, mechanically inclined and strong problem-solving skills
  • Excellent communication skills both verbal and written
