Civil Engineering Technologist

The Salary Range for this position is $63,900 - $95,900 and is dependent on education, experience, location and certifications/licensure.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare detailed site plans, grading plans, and servicing designs including watermain, sanitary sewer, and storm drainage systems for land development projects.
- Develop Civil 3D surfaces and Digital Terrain Models (DTMs) using topographic survey data.
- Utilize AutoCAD Civil 3D to design pipe networks, profiles, alignments, and corridors.
- Interpret and incorporate redline markups from senior engineers and project managers into finalized drawings.
- Maintain and adhere to company CAD standards, templates, and layering conventions.
- Undertake pre-design site reconnaissance and assist in field reviews.
- Assist with quantity take-offs, cost estimates, and preparation of tender documents and specifications.
- Support the preparation of functional servicing reports and stormwater management reports.
- Develop site plans using AutoCAD for design, specification, and tendering purposes.
- Design new and existing parking layouts in accordance with client needs and municipal/jurisdictional standards.
- Assist Project Managers and Practice Leaders with:
- Monitoring and updating project scope, quantities, budgets, and schedules for asphalt pavement construction projects.
- Coordinating with clients and contractors for Pre-Tender, Pre-Construction, and Close-Out meetings.
- Perform periodic site observations to:
- Review contractor submissions
- Prepare and submit field observation reports to clients
- Support asphalt pavement projects by:
- Assist in Designing and preparing drawings, specifications, and tender/construction documents
- Assisting in pavement condition assessments and technical reporting
- Participate in the tendering and contract administration process, including:
- Evaluating submitted bids for pricing and compliance and providing recommendations
- Responding to contractor inquiries during the bidding phase
- Issuing Contemplated Change Notices (CCNs), Change Orders (COs), and Change Directives (CDs)
- Reviewing for substantial completion, identifying deficiencies, and coordinating resolution
- Collaborate with internal teams to ensure accurate, efficient, and timely project delivery.
