Desired Results of the Position:

Contributes to the Algonquin Students’ Association (SA) strategic vision of creating a prideful and spirited campus while upholding the professional image of the SA, and respecting the impact programming has on the Algonquin College community.
Nature and Scope:
The Lounge and Events Support Staff will play a vital role in enhancing the student experience by assisting in the coordination and execution of various events and activities at The Algonquin College Pembroke Campus. This position will also involve working in The Landing Lounge, including serving alcoholic beverages when needed. The
Lounge & Events Support Staff will be responsible for fostering a safe, engaging, and inclusive atmosphere in accordance with the Algonquin Students' Association’s mission and values.
Job Duties:

Assist in the execution of a variety of events and activities that meet the diverse interests of the student population.

Engage with students, share event information, and promote upcoming activities.

Collaborate with the Fitness and Lifestyle Coordinator to ensure successful event delivery, including welcoming students and guests, set-up and clean-up, ticket sales, registration, and general support.

Set up, rearrange, and dismantle furniture and fixtures for event staging.

Serve as an on-site contact during events, answering questions, reporting concerns, and promoting a welcoming atmosphere.

Maintain a high standard of customer service and engagement throughout all events.

Assist with inventory management, event funds collection, and processing.

Serve alcoholic beverages responsibly and in compliance with the Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario regulations.

Assist the Food and Beverage Server with opening and closing procedures, including cash handling and daily sales reporting.

Prepare and serve food and beverages, maintaining high cleanliness and food safety standards when required.

Monitor the lounge area to ensure a safe and welcoming environment.

Uphold and promote all health and safety protocols as required by the Students’ Association and the Occupational Health and Safety Act of Ontario.

Provide information about menu items, specials, and events to students and guests.

Assist in maintaining the lounge facility, ensuring it remains clean, organized, and safe.

Additional support for general facility operations may assigned as needed

Qualifications:

Must be able to work a flexible work week, including some evenings and weekends.

Ability to lift equipment up to 50lbs.

Experience working in hospitality, customer service and/or event support is seen as an asset.

Must be currently enrolled and maintain status as an Algonquin College Student for the 2025/ 2026 school year.

Must have the ability to complete the SmartServe certification from the Alcohol and
Gaming Commission of Ontario
Compensation:
- This position is paid $17.20/hour
- This position is a casual part-time position, approximately 5-10 hours a week as needed
