About the Opportunity
Our client is a privately owned Ontario-based real estate management company with nearly five decades of success providing quality, affordable rental housing across the province. Managing over 11,000 apartment units across 90+ buildings in major cities across Ontario, they are recognized for their commitment to well-maintained, resident-centred communities and long-term relationships with tenants.
This is an exciting moment to join the company. With a significant transition to Sage Intacct underway, they are investing in modern systems and building a collaborative, forward-thinking finance team that will support continued portfolio growth and operational excellence.
Your New Role
As an Accountant, you will take full ownership of several company files within a mixed residential and small commercial portfolio. You will be the subject matter expert for your assigned entities, ensuring that month-end closes, reconciliations, variance analyses, and financial statements are completed accurately and on time.
You will partner with operations on budgets, support the year-end audit process, and prepare tax filings, all while helping implement more efficient processes as the team transitions to a new ERP system. This role aligns well with someone who wants to own the files and contribute to building a best-in-class finance function.
This is more than just an accounting position; it’s an opportunity to become a trusted employee in a company that prides itself on stability, integrity, and community impact. You will have the autonomy to identify discrepancies, solve problems, and deliver insights that help the business grow while staying true to its mission of providing high-quality, affordable housing across Ontario.
You will work alongside an open, supportive leadership team that values mentorship and empowers team members to take initiative, share ideas, and grow in their careers.
What Sets You Apart
You are a proactive, detail-oriented accounting professional with a strong technical foundation and the drive to make an impact. With at least three years of full-cycle accounting experience, you are confident in handling reconciliations, preparing financial statements, and performing variance analyses under ASPE.
You hold a post-secondary degree in business or accounting and are either actively pursuing your CPA designation or have recently completed it. Excel is second nature to you, as you can efficiently work with PivotTables, Lookups, and formulas. You are comfortable navigating accounting or ERP systems, with Sage Intacct experience considered a plus.
Just as importantly, you bring curiosity, initiative, and excellent communication skills. You work well independently but value collaboration, and you have a track record of meeting deadlines, staying organized, and adapting in fast-paced environments. Experience in real estate, property management, or public practice gives you an added edge, but what truly distinguishes you is your ability to take ownership of your work and bring forward solutions rather than just problems.
Why Join
Joining this organization means stepping into a place where your work truly matters. You won’t just be closing the books, you’ll be helping shape the future of a company that’s growing across Ontario and modernizing the way it works. You’ll gain exposure to a diverse and expanding portfolio, contribute to the rollout of a new ERP system, and see firsthand how your insights drive better decisions.
Here, you’ll be supported by leaders who are approachable, clear, and empowering. You’ll have structured mentorship through a CPA Pre-Approved Training Program, giving you the tools to reach your designation and advance your career. And outside of the day-to-day, you’ll enjoy a culture that believes in balance, from a generous holiday office closure and summer hours to employee wellness programs, property rental discounts, pension, and professional development support.
This is a place where you can do great work, grow into more senior roles, and feel proud of the impact you make every day.
