Power Reliability as a Quality Engineering Specialist !
Reporting to the Quality Manager, you’ll play a key role within integrated project teams to ensure compliance with internal quality processes and external standards such as AS9100 and DO-178C.
In this role, you’ll support both engineering development and full product lifecycle activities, with a focus on software airworthiness, quality compliance, and audit leadership. You’ll collaborate across engineering, project management, and customer teams to uphold the highest standards of quality and reliability in mission-critical systems.
Location: Ottawa, ON / Halifax, NS / Calgary, AB

What You’ll Do
- Provide pre-contract quality input, including estimating QA effort and contributing to proposal documentation.
- Develop and implement project-specific QA plans in alignment with AS9100, DO-178C, and customer requirements.
- Act as the quality lead on assigned projects, ensuring compliance across development and certification phases.
- Interface with the DND TAA, DERs, and customer quality representatives during audits and reviews.
- Conduct independent process and product audits, manage corrective actions, and verify closure.
- Participate in Configuration Control Boards (CCB), Material Review Boards (MRB), and design or configuration audits.
- Collaborate with Engineering, Supplier Quality, and Product Support to embed quality throughout the lifecycle.
- Oversee formal testing (acceptance, qualification) and ensure compliance with approved test plans.
- Lead investigations, root cause analyses, and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
- Track and report quality metrics, performance trends, and risks to leadership.
What You’ll Bring:
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical discipline.
- Minimum of 8 years’ experience in engineering or software development, with at least 6 years in a quality assurance role.
- Strong working knowledge of DO-178C, AS9100, and airworthiness certification processes.
- A sound understanding of current engineering development / tools methodologies and standards.
- Proven ability to conduct internal audits, lead investigations, and lead cross-functional teams to resolution.
- Experience supporting software and systems development within a regulated aerospace or defense environment.
- Excellent communication and reporting skills; ability to influence across functions and levels.
- Familiarity with lean principles and continuous improvement methodologies.
Experience/familiarity in the following is an asset:
- Membership in a professional quality body (e.g. ASQ).
- Experience interfacing with government/defense QA authorities.
- Knowledge of Systems Engineering and Engineering Development processes.
- Proficiency in DOORs.
- Strong working knowledge of DO-254
