Job Description & Requirements

  • Please note that the 0.500-FTE schedule will vary throughout the school year and will be finalized in consultation with the successful candidate. The position will likely be close to 1.000-FTE in September, October, February, and March, with 0.500-FTE periods in January and April to average a 0.500-FTE overall. This position cannot be combined with other positions, as the schedule will be adjusted to best support curriculum delivery to other staff.

The Brandon School Division strives to enable each student to achieve maximum intellectual, emotional, social and physical growth. The successful applicant will provide mentorship and support to early years teachers during the implementation of the new english language arts curriculum. The focus will be the ELA curriculum with other curriculum possibilities.

The successful candidate must possess:

  • A Manitoba Teacher’s Certificate, or eligibility for teacher certification in the Province of Manitoba;
  • Seven to ten years of exemplary teaching practice in early years;
  • Demonstrated expertise, experience implementing literacy-based curricula in all forms of diversification;
  • Demonstrated expertise, experience and understanding of multi-age education;
  • Demonstrated expertise in research related to literacy and its role in the preparation of the educated citizen.

Preference will be given to candidates who possess:

  • A Master’s in Education, or evidence of a Master’s Degree in progress, with major area of undergraduate study in languages and literacy;
  • Resource experience and/or certification in the area of Inclusive Education;
  • Reading Recovery training and/or experience;
  • Literacy support experience.
  • Knowledge of continuous/observable impact.
