About the role

Your Opportunity:

This position may be filled by a qualified Medical Laboratory Technologist I or alternatively, a Combined Laboratory Xray Technologist I. Training & Learning for Connect Care (CC) is a critical component for successful adoption of the Clinical Information System. The successful adoption of CC rests on our clinicians and leaders being supported with an education program and strong classroom educators (Credentialed Trainers). The Laboratory Technologist I - Credential Trainer (CT) provides end user training to staff expected to utilize the Epic applications. This individual must be proficient and a subject matter expert in their current role. As a CT you will be responsible for the classroom training (in class and virtual) for end users and leaders of a specific Connect Care program. Your core duties include preparation of the classroom, facilitation of the curriculum and evaluation of the training process. This requires role-based training content using a variety of software programs, tools and applications. You will employ your knowledge of basic concepts of adult education and organizational change management to facilitate the adoption of Connect Care. You will use your experience training and educating adults to relay information in a manner reflective of your audience’s abilities. To ensure competency of the trainees you will administer proficiency assessments at the time of training as well as post-live refresher, optimization and skills enhancement training. As a CT you will undergo a credentialing process to qualify you as a trainer within CC. In addition to curriculum delivery, participation in development of learning activities and continuous improvement will be expected. NOTE: Some travel may be required to reach the training sites. Shift: Primarily Days Monday - Friday, with potential to work an evening or weekend shift.

As a Medical Laboratory Technologist (MLT) I, you will be responsible for the daily processing, testing, results analysis and reporting of diagnostic samples within the laboratory department. You will perform a variety of routine and specialized procedures in the processing of specimens used in diagnosis, treatment and research.

Required Qualifications:

Completion of an accredited Medical Laboratory Technology (MLT) program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Medical Laboratory Technologists of Alberta (CMLTA).

Additional Required Qualifications:

As applicable, active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the Alberta College of Combined Laboratory & Xray Technologists (ACCLXT). Demonstrated ability to think systematically & critically to improve quality, realize improved outcomes and engage others in same. Demonstrated ability with decision making responsibilities, coaching and teaching, & the ability to inspire and build confidence in others. Strong verbal communication, public speaking, listening skills, team player, interpersonal & leadership skills. Prior experience facilitating, instructing, precepting and or teaching. Knowledge of organizational/clinical workflows and practice. Ability to learn new material quickly & adapt to change. Comfort with technology and the ability to quickly master new software programs. Ability to build rapport, prioritize, critically think & solve problems quickly and efficiently. Ability to be patient and calm when faced with multiple distractions or problems that arise. Ability to work independently and collaboratively. Ability to promote the change process in a positive manner. Demonstrated ability to use Microsoft Office tools. Ability to sit and stand for prolonged periods with extended computer. Must be able to lift up to 10 pounds. Experience and comfort in problem solving and conflict resolution.

Preferred Qualifications:

Previous experience as a Credential Trainer is an asset. 3-5 years recent clinical experience preferred.
