HOURS OF WORK:

The stated hours of work are approximate as schedules are subject to change with the operational needs of the Health Centre. Changes made to hours of work will follow the terms of the applicable collective agreement, company policy and/or legislation.

WHAT YOU’LL DO:

The RN, as one of the regulated health professionals providing health care, has a unique role in promoting health, in preventing illness, and in helping clients attain and maintain the highest level of health possible. S/he is responsible for providing comprehensive care to patients, with predictable and unpredictable outcomes who may or may not be clinically stable. The RN practices in accordance with the College of Nurses of Ontario Professional Standards. The RN will provide care in alignment with the College of Nurses three factor framework.

WHAT YOU’LL BRING:

  • Current Certificate of Registration from the College of Nurses of Ontario
  • 3 years paediatric or post-partum experience preferred
  • Paediatric Certificate in nursing required or a commitment to successfully complete within 18 months of hire
  • Current BCLS required
  • Current Coronary 1 or commitment to complete within 12 months of hire
  • NRP certification required or a commitment to complete within 1 months of hire; and every 2 years renewal maintained
  • Current PALS or commitment to successfully complete within 6 months required
  • Current breastfeeding certificate or a commitment to successfully complete within 6 months required

WHO YOU ARE:

  • Added Nursing skills specific to Paediatrics/Post Partum, excellent ante/post-partum, neonatal and paediatric assessment skills
  • Demonstrated interest in the philosophy supporting combined care, client choice and family centredness
  • Demonstrated commitment to positively supporting the Unit values. Knowledge of adult education principles
  • Demonstrated commitment to continuing education
  • Excellent verbal communication and written documentation skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work well with patients (infant/child/adolescent and adult), families, staff, physicians and the community
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and as a team member
  • Excellent organizational skills and ability to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Basic computer skills – EPIC
