Job Description: Under the direction of the Controller, Campus Services, the incumbent supports the Budget and Operations Officer in the daily cash reconciliation and bank deposit creation for the campus store. As part of their duties, the incumbent is required to count/verify cash drawers, validate receipts against system data to ensure they are in sync, and prepare bank deposits. This activity includes reconciling cash, cheques, debit and credit card receipts, with multiple systems records. All variances identified when reconciling are either investigated by the incumbent or shared with the appropriate staff for their review. Once the variance is identified, the correct adjustment is required, and the reconciliation is closed. The incumbent is also responsible for ensuring that all details are properly recorded and that appropriate files are submitted to the College’s Financial Services department for import into Workday. The incumbent to be hired should be a student from the business / accounting program with a basic understanding of accounting principles. They would benefit from hands-on learning through their employment in this role. This position is a temporary position that assists the Budget and Operations Officer during peak periods. Required Qualifications: The International Student Employment Fund provides funding for part-time and co-op employment opportunities- on campus for international learners enrolled in a full-time academic program of study. Learners must be a registered international student at Algonquin College and have completed a minimum of one semester of study prior to applying. ISEF may also be utilized for employment between academic semesters on a “scheduled break” as defined by Immigration, Refugee, Citizenship Canada (IRCC) or while studying full time or part time (in final semester required to graduate or if studying part time while on a scheduled break); Up to six (6) months of practical experience; Counts and balances cash drawers received for Retail Services business units; Verifies counts against point-of-sale system expected data; Ensures all batches are in balance and that records are accurate; Completes cash sheets for all daily sales and sets up cash bags for start of business day with proper denominations of coin and bills; Records and prepares bank deposits; The incumbent ensures that all financial batches related to cash handling are transferred to the College’s Financial Services department for import into Workday; Review and enter contracts through Bonfire system; Reconcile and analyze sales records; Support Accounts Payable/Accounts Receivable at Retail Services.
