Summary
We are recruiting for an Automation Specialist Co-op Student for a minimum 8-month term with our Project & Solutions Operations team, starting in January 2026, based at our Burnaby Automation Centre. Reporting to the Manager, Projects and Lifecycle Services, you will work within a project team, providing support to several Distributed Control Systems (DCS) and System Integration solutions. Duties may include system testing and start-up, system design, control design, network integration, configuration, develop test reports.
Role and Responsibilities
- System staging, testing and start-up
- System design and documentation
- Development of and testing Human-Machine Interface (HMI) graphics
- Configure control strategies and shutdown keys
- Interface with third party products (PLCs)
Qualifications and Skills
- Current student in Electrical or Chemical Engineering; or Instrumentation Engineering Technology
- Proficiency in MS Office programs; Word, Power Point, Excel
- Experience with DeltaV (hardware/software) is an asset
- 3D CAD and/or AutoCAD Electrical experience an asset
- Demonstrated customer service and sales skills in an industrial environment an asset
- Working knowledge of Process Control hardware and software
- Solid technical problem solving skills
- Strong communication, time management and computer skills
- Collaborative team player with sound work principles
- Excellent office organizational and operational skills
- Detail oriented
- Entrepreneurial work ethic
- Valid Class 5 Driver’s License is considered an asset
- This position has been deemed as Safety Sensitive – successful candidates will be required to pass a pre-employment Alcohol and Drug test
