About the role

Our Business

FISPAN Services Inc. (FISPAN) is an Enterprise SaaS FinTech company that allows banks to deploy embedded financial products and services to create a seamless banking connection for their corporate clients. Our product aims to provide instant scale and reach for banks who want to remove friction and add value by enabling their commercial banking clients to access banking services through their preferred ERP / accounting platform.

Founded in 2016 and headquartered in downtown Vancouver, FISPAN is on a mission to create the best product in the FinTech industry and fundamentally change the way that companies bank. Being the market leader in ERP Banking, we work with the world’s Tier 1 banks with assets exceeding $3T, including J.P. Morgan Chase, Wells Fargo, TD and Bank of Montreal.

The Role

We are looking for a Financial Data Analytics Engineer to join our team for a 4-month contract to cover a Paternity Leave. This is a unique hybrid role designed for a Data Analyst who possesses a deep understanding of accounting principles and corporate finance.

You will act as the technical owner of our automated financial intelligence infrastructure. Unlike traditional finance roles that rely on spreadsheets, you will manage, troubleshoot, and optimize data pipelines that feed our live 3-statement models and revenue forecasts in Sigma Computing and Redshift.

Who You Are

You are a Data Analyst first, but you speak the language of Finance. You know how to write complex SQL queries to manipulate large datasets, but you also understand how those datasets must aggregate to balance a Balance Sheet or calculate SaaS ARR. You are comfortable debugging a data discrepancy in the morning and presenting a variance analysis to leadership in the afternoon.

Key Responsibilities

Financial Data Engineering & Infrastructure

  • Model Stewardship: Maintain and optimize complex data models in Sigma Computing that power our Income Statement, Balance Sheet, and Cash Flow Statement.
  • Pipeline Management: Monitor data flows between our ERP/Accounting Systems and our data warehouse (Redshift). Troubleshoot ingestion errors and ensure source-to-report accuracy using SQL.
  • Governance: Manage row-level security and access controls to ensure stakeholders view only the data relevant to their role.

Automated Financial Reporting

  • Reporting Cadence: Execute the monthly financial close process using our automated tools. Deliver accurate Budget vs. Actuals (BvA) packets and operational dashboards to department heads.
  • Investor & Compliance Reporting: Generate high-fidelity monthly investor reports and quarterly board materials, ensuring all automated logic aligns with current compliance standards.
  • Revenue Analytics: Manage granular revenue recognition models, tracking implementation progress and recurring revenue cohorts.

Strategic Analysis

  • Forecasting: Maintain the integrated corporate forecast model, inputting actuals and updating assumptions to project rolling cash flow and margins.

  • Ad-Hoc Intelligence: Support the Executive Team with data-driven strategic insights, utilizing your ability to query raw data to answer questions about unit economics, pricing models, and retention.

Qualifications

Technical Skills

  • Advanced SQL (Required): You can write complex queries, joins, and window functions from scratch.
  • BI & Data Visualization: Expert-level proficiency in any modern BI platform (e.g., Tableau, Looker, Power BI, or Sigma Computing). Prior experience with Sigma is not required, but you must be comfortable learning new tools quickly.
  • Python (Preferred): Proficiency in Python (specifically pandas) for data manipulation and analysis is highly desirable.
  • Data Warehousing: Experience working with cloud data warehouses (Redshift, Snowflake, BigQuery).

Financial Domain Knowledge

  • Accounting Fluency: Deep understanding of ASPE, the relationship between the three financial statements, and revenue recognition principles.
  • FP&A Experience: 3+ years experience in a role involving financial forecasting, budgeting, or variance analysis.
  • SaaS Metrics: Familiarity with tracking and modeling ARR, NRR, CAC, and LTV.

Systems

  • Familiarity with modern ERPs and Accounting Systems (API-level understanding is a plus).

Why Work With Us?

  • Experienced Team: Our CEO is Lisa Shields, a renowned tech entrepreneur whose previous venture, Hyperwallet, was purchased by Paypal and ranks as one of the largest Canadian technology company acquisitions. Lisa is backed by a seasoned leadership team with vast experience scaling technology companies from start-up through growth phases to acquisition. In joining our team you will benefit from that experience and associated mentorship opportunities, and further build your network and knowledge base.

  • High Growth Environment: FISPAN is an emerging high growth company, and that implies autonomy and leadership over projects. Our employees hold a higher level of responsibility and are presented with various hands-on opportunities from the get-go. We want our team to reach their full potential and career aspirations, and FISPAN helps foster that.
