What You Will Get To Do

Reporting to the Director of Recreation, the Supervisor of Recreation and Community Programs

Oversees daily and Seasonal Camp Operations of the Recreation Program section within the Recreation Division across various town facilities.

Oversees daily Operations of Active Living, Children’s and Youth programming and Youth Council across various town facilities.

Works in partnership with Community Connection and Third-Party organizations to offer recreation community programs.

Manages staff adherence to safety rules, regulations, and procedures. Ensures that Recreation staff are trained in relevant customer service and safety procedures and that staff maintain current Vulnerable Sector Checks as required to meet job requirements.

Determines appropriate staffing levels and schedules staff, ensuring appropriately trained staff are available to provide Recreation services. Monitors and approves staff payroll, and requests for time off.

Recruits, trains, coaches, develops, and manages performance and conduct of Recreation staff in accordance with Town policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.

Actively investigates opportunities to meet community needs and increase community usage of Recreation programs and oversees the Development of new programs where gaps in service are identified.

Engages / liaises with client groups, community groups and partners to measure customer satisfaction. Generates plans to enhance services and programs based on feedback received.

Works with cross-functional teams to implement facility and equipment improvements

Collaborate with the Director, Recreation to develop and maintain short and long-term strategic and operational plans and budget for Town Recreation including evaluating program performance, introducing new programming, and adjusting services to meet the needs of a growing community.

Responds to escalated customer inquiries and complaints. Resolves, redirects, or escalates issues as appropriate.

Ensures Third Party Client groups comply with relevant Recreation policies and procedures for facility usage.

What You Bring To Our Team
As the successful applicant, you must possess:
- Minimum University Degree in Recreation and Leisure Studies, Sport Management or equivalent.
- Minimum of five (5) years related experience in a municipal recreation environment including supervisory experience in a unionized environment.
- Possess and maintain a valid Class G driver’s license and have access to a personal vehicle.
- Proficiency with MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook), Active Net for program and POS management, Workday, and City Works
- Knowledge of recreation and leisure services, child and youth development and PRO best practices, programs and trends.
- Excellent customer service skills and the ability to problem solve customer complaints
- Ability to manage sensitive and or difficult customer interactions with tact, discretion, and professionalism
- Experience in the areas of conflict resolution, team dynamics, engagement
- Follows and remains current on all industry trends through professional networks

Salary Range/Hourly rate:
$109,693.00 - $124,652.00
