Job Summary:
Waste Solutions is seeking an IT Operations & Azure Infrastructure Specialist to take ownership of our Azure cloud environment while supporting day to day IT operations.
This role is responsible for managing and optimizing Azure infrastructure including networking, compute, security, backup, and governance. This includes administration, patching, and configuration of both Windows and Linux workloads hosted in Azure**.**In addition, the position includes Tier 1 and Tier 2 end user support responsibilities to ensure smooth and reliable operations across our distributed workforce.
This is a hands on, mid level role suited for someone who is comfortable supporting users when needed, but whose primary strength and experience is Azure cloud infrastructure and production workload management.
You will work closely with leadership and external partners to ensure our technology foundation is secure, scalable, and aligned with our growth through acquisition strategy**.**
What you will be doing:
- Lead hands-on administration and optimization of the Microsoft Azure environment, including virtual networks, VPN gateways, virtual machines, storage, backup, monitoring, security controls, and governance.
- Manage and support Windows and Linux workloads in Azure, including patching, configuration, troubleshooting, and security hardening.
- Design, deploy, and maintain production workloads in Azure while ensuring high availability, performance, security, and cost efficiency.
- Administer Microsoft 365, Entra ID, and Intune including user provisioning, licensing, conditional access policies, MFA, device configuration, and identity governance.
- Provide Tier 1–2 help desk support to internal users, troubleshooting hardware, software, connectivity, and device issues across a distributed workforce.
- Manage endpoint lifecycle including provisioning, inventory tracking, refresh cycles, and decommissioning.
- Implement and maintain monitoring, logging, backup, and disaster recovery processes across cloud and endpoint environments.
- Strengthen the organization’s security posture using tools such as Defender for Cloud, Azure Monitor, and security governance policies.
- Support infrastructure integrations during acquisitions, migrations, and system consolidations.
- Maintain technical documentation, runbooks, and standard operating procedures while identifying opportunities to automate and improve IT operations.
- Collaborate with leadership, internal teams, and external partners such as MSSPs to ensure a secure, scalable, and reliable technology environment.
What we are looking for:
- Strong hands-on experience managing Microsoft Azure infrastructure including networking, compute, storage, security, monitoring, backup, and governance.
- Experience supporting and operating production workloads within Azure cloud environments.
- Strong knowledge of Microsoft 365, Entra ID, and Intune administration.
- Hands-on experience managing Windows and Linux servers including patching, configuration, troubleshooting, and security hardening.
- Experience providing IT support for distributed or remote teams.
- Strong troubleshooting, documentation, communication, and organizational skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities independently in a fast-paced environment.
