Assignment Area(s): Performing Arts Grade 10 – 12 (1 Position)

Effective Date: July 6, 2026, to July 17, 2026, 8:15 – 12:45 (Instructional time is 8:30 – 12:30)

Please Note: The assignment in July may not be identical to the assignment in this posted position. Summer school programs are contingent upon student enrolment. If, on or around June 26, 2026, there are insufficient class numbers for this assignment the course will be cancelled, and the teaching contract will be rescinded. Teachers will be paid in accordance with the Collective Agreement (Article B.29). By accepting this assignment, teachers do not receive experience or earn seniority or aggregate months of service towards conversions to a continuing contract (B status).

Deadline for Applications: May 25, 2026 - 12:00 p.m.

**Required Abilities, Qualifications and Experience: **

  • extensive academic training, professional preparation, and qualifications in teaching all areas of this assignment
  • knowledge of, and demonstrated application of the Ministry of Education's current philosophy, teaching practices, and evaluation/assessment/reporting procedures as applied to all areas of this assignment
  • successful experience in teaching prior Summer Learning courses
  • Extensive academic training, professional preparation, and qualifications in teaching Music, Drama and Theatre at the secondary school level.
  • Knowledge of, and demonstrated application of, the Ministry of Education's current philosophy, teaching practices, and evaluation/assessment/reporting procedures as applied to Music, Drama and Theatre
  • completed formal undergraduate or post-graduate studies in Music, Drama & Theatre
  • demonstrated experience in teaching Theatre, Drama & Music at the secondary school level, using highly successful instructional strategies that engage and motivate secondary school-age students
  • demonstrated ability to develop a music or drama program
  • demonstrated content knowledge in teaching all aspects of a Fine Arts program
  • demonstrated content knowledge of the most effective ways to help students learn artistic/drama technique and expression
  • demonstrated ability to devise and use a variety of assessment processes that effectively allow students to demonstrate their learning
  • demonstrated knowledge and understanding of adolescent development and commitment to Secondary School Philosophy
  • demonstrated ability to recognize individual student differences and effectively differentiate instruction and assessment to meet the learning needs of all students in a diverse classroom for all subjects in this assignment at the secondary school level
