Reporting to the University Librarian, the Writing Clinic Instructor is responsible for:
Duties
Guiding students through the writing process; Identifying areas of composition that need improvement; Helping students in those areas, both online (via Zoom and Teams) and in person. Group sessions may also be needed.
The Writing Clinic Instructor’s role is to help students learn to manage a wide range of writing skills involved in completing university assignments.
The Writing Clinic Instructors are also responsible for accurate daily tracking of Writing Clinic traffic using LibInsight.
Qualifications
Experience teaching English at high school or post-secondary level
Experienced educator of mature students in a cross-cultural environment Excel in teaching students with varying academic proficiency in a group setting or one-to-one, as well as online (Zoom or MS Teams) Strong familiarity with both MLA and APA formats; working knowledge of Chicago is an asset Superior knowledge surrounding all aspects of English composition including grammar, sentence structure, and punctuation Successful written and verbal communication skills
Formidable interpersonal skills, flexibility, and the ability to provide outstanding customer service
Salary Range: $18.00 – $22.00 per hour
