Responsibilities PRIMARY PURPOSE

Provides project and maintenance planning expertise and leadership in an operations and maintenance environment. The individual is required to establish a process to obtain information, update raw data and to closely monitor the project and maintenance resource allocation, status and risks.

Key Accountabilities Analyzes, monitors, tracks and makes recommendations related to the project throughout the project and maintenance life cycle. This includes project activation, maintenance activities, procurement processes, life cycle and project costs, cash flow forecasts, capitalization and closing.

Assists with planning and developing projects, in defining and determining standards, objectives, schedules, and risks related to the proposed project; assists in determining the need for internal and external resources to ensure the projects are scheduled to minimize the day to day impacts on operating and maintenance requirements; assists in developing, planning, and monitoring budgets; coordinates project evaluations; monitor progress against plan, assess risk and provide recommendations to correct plan deviations for each project.

Analyzes all current project commitments and reports any deviations from the planned schedule. Assists in the assigning and coordinating of all resources required. Receives calls for service and adjusts work priorities to respond to problems and urgent requests.

Provides internal control check for completeness, accuracy and proper signoff of project forms and invoices and ensures completion of program deliverable targets.

Develops and updates project reporting, as required, ensuring accurate tracking and reporting of progress, performance to schedule and performance to budget of projects. Assists in producing, reviewing and analyzing individual project documents, including resource plans.

Assists in the day-to-day operations of projects by analyzing project task requirements to schedule, assign and coordinate the work of technical/trades staff and contractors as required.

Tracks number of project staff members and ensures adherence to budgeted headcount.

Qualifications EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

The requirements for this job are typically acquired through completion of a Diploma in a related Technical Field, Project Planning and some Project Management courses.

Requires three (3) years of previous related project management experience working in an Engineering or Technical environment.

Other Requirements Strong analytical skills when developing and recommending business improvements and change initiative

Solid experience with project co-ordination and implementation.

Excellent written and oral communication skills.

Working knowledge of Microsoft Project or alternative project planning software.

Solid skills in standard office software tools including word processing and advanced spreadsheet software, statistical packages and use of web-based and data management systems.

Understanding of project work scope, work breakdown structure (WBS) and logical work sequencing in terms of engineering, manufacturing and construction disciplines in order to develop and maintain a comprehensive resource allocation plan that reflects current and future capital and maintenance project plans.

Project Management Processional (PMP) certification would be an asset.

Eligibility to be registered with the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of British Columbia (APEGBC) would be an asset.

Eligibility to be registered with the Applied Science Technologists and Technicians of BC (ASTTBC) would be an asset.

Other Information Recruitment Process: An applicant will be required to demonstrate their suitability for this position by meeting the minimum level of qualifications and experience in order to be invited into the selection process. A standard interview format will be used including general, scenario and behavioural descriptive interview questions.

Work Schedule 37.5 hours per week.

Work Designation Resident

This position works predominately on-site.

Rate of Pay The salary for this position ranges from $75,600 - $113,400 per annum. Actual salary offered will be based on education, experience, skills, and qualifications as they relate to the role.
