S&C is continuing to grow. Where do you come in? We are looking for a licensed HVAC Technician. The HVAC Technician supports production by performing preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, making repairs, researching and optimizing systems, communicating with contractors for routine inspections, repairs and upgrades for HVAC, boilers, split AC units and chillers, electric and gas heaters, rooftop units, and cooling systems while following legislated codes, safety policies and procedures.

Work Arrangement: Onsite

Shift: Day Shift (Mon - Fri, 6:30am - 3:00pm)

Work Location: 90 Belfield Rd., Etobicoke M9W 1G4

Core Responsibilities

  • Perform complete maintenance and repairs on all building systems and equipment, including but not limited to: heating ventilation and air conditioning systems (HVAC), associated water treatment systems, air handling and exhaust systems, gas fired make-up air equipment , gas fired steam and hot water boilers and related equipment, gas fired rooftop units, circulation pumps, and associated gas fired hot water recovery systems, chillers and cooling tower systems, heat pumps.
  • Perform preventive, emergency and corrective maintenance repairs on operating equipment, building systems, and building grounds to meet the requirements of a safe, efficient and reliable workplace.
  • Diagnose equipment irregularities and malfunctions and provide solutions to correctly diagnose all electrical, mechanical, hydraulic and pneumatic problems and expedite their repairs, minimizing interruption to production.
  • Monitor and operate Building Automation Systems (BAS), Fire Panels, and other associated systems.
  • Keep detailed and accurate maintenance reports and documentation using a CMMS system.
  • Research and navigate the CMMS system independently.
  • Operate hoisting and lifting devices such as cranes, jacks & forklifts to position machinery and parts during the installation, set-up and repair of equipment.
  • Adjust machinery and repair or replace defective parts.
  • Maintain equipment history files and log service work for all equipment.
  • Communicate and work with outside contractors.
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable codes, standards and legislation, including Environmental Legislation, O. Reg 851 for Industrial Establishments, and the Occupational Health and Safety Act (with emphasis on Section 28, (1) (a)-(d), (2) (a)-(c)).
  • Assist supervisor with procuring parts or service in accordance with S&C’s policies.
  • Participate in the evaluation of products, equipment, and methods used in safe facility maintenance and operation.
  • Maintain inventory of parts and supplies for repairs and scheduled PM.
  • Collaborate with a team of mechanics and electricians on repairs, troubleshooting, and other projects.
  • Perform other related tasks and duties as assigned by management.

Who are we looking for? Someone who has:

  • 0-1 year of experience in assembly with a desire to learn electrical/mechanical assembly processes, follow assembly instructions, and use various hand/power tools to assemble products.
  • 3-5 Years of experience as a HVAC Technician.
  • 313A Refrigeration License is required
  • PLC (Programmable Logic Controllers) experience.
  • Experience with mechanical/electrical wiring and controls - B.A.S. systems.
  • Ability to read and understand blueprints, diagrams, and schematics.
  • Experience with setting up, analyzing and effectively troubleshooting electro-mechanical issues independently.
  • Knowledge of maintenance planning software.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, problem-solving, and organization skills.
  • Ability to lift up to 20 Lbs.
