About the Opportunity
A Global Security and Logistics Company is looking for a lawyer for a 6-9 month engagement starting as soon as possible.
The work will involve supporting the company’s Canadian legal team on a broad range of commercial transactions while serving as a trusted legal advisor to internal business stakeholders. The ideal candidate will be a strong commercial generalist who can independently manage contract negotiations in a fast-paced environment. Experience with regulatory and compliance matters is preferred, and data privacy experience is considered a strong plus.
Key Responsibilities
Draft, review, negotiate, and manage a wide variety of commercial agreements supporting the company’s Canadian business Provide practical legal advice to business stakeholders on commercial transactions and contractual risk Advise on contract interpretation, legal risk, and commercial issues throughout the contracting process Support regulatory and compliance initiatives affecting the Canadian business Partner with cross-functional teams to facilitate efficient execution of commercial agreements Assist with data privacy matters and related commercial issues, where applicable Work closely with the Canadian legal team while independently managing day-to-day legal support
Key Details
Canadian-qualified lawyer in good standing with 8–10 years of relevant legal experience Experience advising on regulatory and compliance matters preferred Data privacy experience is a strong plus, but not required Bilingual English/French language skills strongly preferred Qualification to practice Quebec law is highly desirable, but not required
Required
Candidates must be able to work up to full-time (40 hours/week) The work will be performed remotely. Candidates must be Canadian-qualified (Quebec preferred). Company's preferred pricing model is hourly with a budget of $100 - $115 USD/hour; flexible based on experience. Candidates will be employed (T4) by a workforce solutions company for the duration of this engagement.
