About the role
Practice Details:
Interior Health is seeking a medical microbiologist to join their regional medical microbiology and infection control team which serves four microbiology laboratories in Kelowna, Kamloops, Trail and Cranbrook. The KGH microbiology laboratory performs bacteriology and mycology testing and has a newly developed molecular laboratory. The candidate will focus on oversight of bacteriology testing, and possibly mycology testing if the individual is experienced or interested. The candidate will contribute to clinical consultation for the regional infection prevention and control (IPAC) program and share a clinically oriented on-call service with 6 microbiologists. The ideal candidate will have expertise in bacteriology, experience in IPAC consulting, and possibly mycology testing. Strong interpersonal skills are essential for collaborating with regional administrative, hospital, infection control, and laboratory staff.
Qualifications:
- Eligible for licensure with CPSBC
- Coverage with the Canadian Medical Protective Association is mandatory
- Eligible for Fellowship with the Royal College of Physicians of Canada (FRCPC)
Call Schedule:
Hours of work: Full Time
On call requirements: Day call 1:6 Evening/weekend On-Call Hours 1:7

Estimated Gross Income
Provincially negotiated grid level
Eligible for licensure with CPSBC;Coverage with the Canadian Medical Protective Association is mandatory;Eligible for Fellowship with the Royal College of Physicians of Canada (FRCPC)
