The University of Manitoba (UM) invites applications for a part-time (0.2 EFT, 8 hours/week) Rural Regional Educational Lead, for a 2-year term, within the Department of Family Medicine in the Rady Faculty of Health Sciences. The expected salary for this part-time position is $35,329 per annum.

Responsibilities:

The Department of Family Medicine provides a two-year residency training program in family medicine, with residents choosing from several learning streams. An additional third year is also available in advanced skills training. Departmental offices are located at the University's Bannatyne Campus, although teaching occurs at sites across the province.

The Rural Regional Educational Lead is responsible for ensuring educational programming that occurs at the relevant sites conforms to the standards and policies set by the Postgraduate Education Program Director and the Residency Program Committee. Rural sites that this position supports include the Parkland, Brandon, Neepawa, Portage la Prairie, Boundary Trails, Steinbach, Selkirk, and Bilingual.

This individual will work closely with the Education Directors within the respective stream. The incumbent will also work with the Postgraduate Education Associate Program Director and Postgraduate Education Faculty Leads to ensure that the program meets the requirements of The College of Family Physicians of Canada and is conducted in a manner that is consistent with the mission of the Department of Family Medicine and its Residency Program Committee.

Qualifications:

  • Certified with the College of Family Physicians of Canada (CCFP) and current membership in the College of Family Physicians of Canada (CFPC)
  • Holds a full license from the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Manitoba
  • Previous teaching experience in undergraduate or postgraduate Family Medicine
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills appropriate to dealing with individuals from a variety of backgrounds
  • Interest in medical education administration
