About the role

Position Type: Full-Time Contract (1 Year with potential extensions)

Location: Hybrid (Ottawa, ON – 8 days/month preferred) Must be eligible to obtain a Government of Canada Secret Security Clearance.

We are seeking an experienced Senior Network Security Specialist to support the operation, security, and continuous improvement of a large-scale enterprise network environment. This role is ideal for a hands-on professional with strong expertise in enterprise networking and network security who thrives in complex, mission-critical environments. You will play a key role in maintaining network security controls, responding to security incidents, supporting infrastructure upgrades, and implementing automation initiatives to enhance operational efficiency. The successful candidate will collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure the network remains secure, resilient, and highly available.

Key Responsibilities

Provide operational support for enterprise network and security infrastructure. Troubleshoot and resolve complex network and security issues across multiple technologies. Monitor network security events, investigate alerts and logs, perform root cause analysis, and implement corrective actions. Support infrastructure upgrades, patching, and security remediation activities. Participate in production deployments, performance testing, failover validation, disaster recovery testing, and vulnerability remediation. Maintain and enhance firewall policies, network segmentation, and security controls. Identify opportunities to automate repetitive operational tasks and improve service efficiency. Support CI/CD processes related to network and security infrastructure. Ensure compliance with organizational security policies, industry standards, and regulatory requirements. Collaborate with infrastructure, security, and application teams in an Agile/SCRUM environment.

Required Qualifications

Post-secondary degree or diploma in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related discipline. Minimum of 5 years of recent hands-on experience supporting enterprise network operations and network security. Strong experience with Cisco routing and switching technologies. Hands-on experience administering Check Point firewalls and Check Point security management platforms. Proven experience with network security operations, incident response, vulnerability management, and troubleshooting complex enterprise environments. Experience analyzing security logs, alerts, and network events to identify and resolve issues. Understanding of CI/CD pipelines and supporting continuous deployment within enterprise infrastructure. Experience working within Agile/SCRUM teams and utilizing Agile methodologies. Must be eligible to obtain a Government of Canada Secret Security Clearance. Candidates must have resided continuously in Canada for a minimum of five (5) years to meet the eligibility requirements.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience with ServiceNow. Experience implementing Intelligent Automation (IA) or automating network operations. Scripting experience using PowerShell, Python, or similar automation tools. Experience supporting highly available, enterprise-scale network environments.
