Summary

DMC is currently looking for an Underground Development Miner Trainer, to join our team on a contract basis, based in Sudbury, Ontario. The Underground Development Miner Trainer is responsible for delivering hands-on training to underground personnel, ensuring employees develop the skills, knowledge, and safe work practices required to perform underground development mining activities. This role mentors new and existing employees, evaluates competency, promotes continuous improvement, and supports compliance with company standards, client requirements, and applicable mining regulations. The Trainer will be responsible to provide subject matter expertise to support training objectives. The Trainer will assist in developing training components to support the implementation, maintenance, and improvement of the system using our new digital training packages while following the MTCU guidelines.

Responsibilities

Conducts, and promotes safety and training. Contributes to the revision of policies, procedures, and programs. Conducts inspections. Works closely with supervisors and site leadership to identify training needs. Ensures proper training of all employees in operation, safety and or maintenance functions. Ensures the training is accurate, complete, and distributed as per the Management System. Provides information, signs, posters, barriers, and other materials to warn of potential an actual safety hazards and to prevent access to hazardous conditions. Maintains digital files and training records. Plans and conducts inspection with crews. Develops work procedures. Responds to inquiries regarding training, policies, procedures, and programs. Represents the organization in the community and industry with respect to safety & training programs. Purchases and assists with the procurement of PPE supplies. Assists with the orientation process of new employees. Perform other duties as may be assigned.

Qualifications

Basic Underground Hard Rock Miner Common Core. First Line Hard Rock Supervisor Common Core. Train Trainer Certified. Minimum of 8-10 years of underground mining experience. Previous experience training, mentoring, coaching, or supervising underground crews. Working knowledge of the occupational Health and safety act and other related regulations. Ability to understand and follow detailed oral and written instructions. Strong communication, organizational, leadership and interpersonal skills. Computer knowledge and basic knowledge of Microsoft Office. Emergency Response training skills/certifications. Excellent communication skills and record keeping skills. Valid driver's license.

Working in an office and mining setting.

Additional Information

We are hiring to fill an existing vacancy. Hourly range is expected to be between: $28 to $30(CAD) + hourly incentive bonus. Comprehensive benefits and retirement plan. This role will be performed on-site. Compensation and benefits offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, job level, market location, job-related knowledge/skills, and experience.

1980 The company was founded in 1980 as Dynatec Mining Limited. In its second year in business, it started building the Macassa Mine shaft, for which, it still holds the record for the deepest single-lift timbered shaft in the world.

1992 DMC developed the Long Round Concept for shaft sinking, an innovation that improved productivity by 20%.
