Your new role

Reporting to the Operational Readiness Managers, the Business Process Specialist - OR designs, documents, and optimizes end-to-end business processes across the future mine, ensuring that the organization operates as an integrated value chain rather than a collection of functional silos. This role supports the development of an operating model that prioritizes the availability of accurate data to enable safe, efficient, and effective decision processes. The role will also be responsible for analyzing workflows, decision pathways, meetings, and reporting structures (including KPIs that represent desired business outcomes); identify improvement opportunities; and embed process efficiency, clarity, and technology enablement into the operating model before handover to Operations.

Your key responsibilities:

  • Lead cross-functional mapping of current (“as-is”) and future (“to-be”) processes covering operations, maintenance, supply chain, planning, and support functions
  • Define standard meeting cadences, reporting structures, and performance review cycles aligned with the Integrated Operations framework
  • Collaborate with the OR Systems & Technology Lead to ensure that new systems and technologies (CMMS, planning, control, analytics, remote-ops platforms) are fully integrated into workflows and decision logic
  • Identify efficiency and decision-quality improvements enabled by technology, automation, or process redesign
  • Define process ownership, interfaces, and approval pathways (RASCI/Swimlane models)
  • Support development of procedures and management system documentation aligned with ISO standards, where applicable (e.g. ISO 9001, 14001, and 55000)
  • Facilitate workshops and change-management sessions to ensure buy-in from functional teams and alignment with Gold Fields corporate systems
  • Ensure all new processes are documented, version-controlled, and ready for training and deployment before start of operations

What you'll need to succeed

  • 10 + years in process improvement, business analysis, or operations excellence (mining or heavy industrial)
  • Strong understanding of technology-enabled operations (control rooms, remote operations, analytics, autonomous systems)
  • Expertise in process mapping tools (e.g. Visio, Miro, ARIS, Lucidchart, Signavio)
  • Expertise in data-driven improvement frameworks (Lean Six Sigma, Kaizen, VSM)
  • Leadership qualities to collaborate with multiple stakeholders.
  • Excellent facilitation, analytical, and communication skills
  • Fluent in English and French

What you'll get in return

  • Working from the Montreal project office for the remainder of the design and planning phase, you will have access to a vibrant, modern workspace that will enable a high degree of collaboration with other leaders in the project
  • Exceptional career development as a senior leader on one of the largest mining projects in the past decade in Quebec.
  • A unique opportunity to contribute to a large-scale greenfield project in the mining sector that will see the best technologies embedded into the startup of the operation.
  • Access to global projects networks to leverage the best practices across Gold Fields
  • Highly competitive compensation
  • Collective insurance plan
  • RRSP
  • And much more!
