Job Summary:
Under the supervision of the Patient Services Manager, in compliance with CRNM Standards of Nursing Practice, the Registered Nurse is responsible for providing professional registered nursing services to patients receiving medical assessment, treatment, or follow-up at CancerCare Manitoba. These services also include independent nursing services, administration of prescribed treatments, a leadership role within the healthcare team, and facilitating coordination of patient care.
The Registered Nurse assesses patients' and families' physical, psychosocial and spiritual responses to the disease process and/or treatment and provides nursing interventions that include physical care to manage the disease and treatment-related symptoms, psychosocial support and education to encourage active participation in decision-making and self-care. The Registered Nurse works a variable schedule across CCMB sites in Winnipeg and works in a multi-disciplinary team environment to foster an atmosphere of respect and caring

Level of Formal Education & Experience
Current registration, in good standing, with the College of Registered Nurses of Manitoba (CRNM) Current certification in Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS)An acceptable equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered. Knowledge Canadian Nurses Association Code of Ethics for Registered Nurse, Scope of practice as documented in the Regulated Health Professions Act (RHPA). Proficient with computers, software programs, and applications such as Windows and Word processing, spreadsheets, and databases. Satisfactory employment record Must be able to work in Canada legally
Skills And Abilities
Excellent interpersonal, communication, organizational and problem-solving skills Ability to work both independently and as a member of a multi-disciplinary team Demonstrated effective verbal and written communication skills

Preferred:
Bachelor of Nursing from an accredited academic institution Three (3) years of experience in medical/surgical or ambulatory care Previous experience in chemotherapy administration and IV insertion Knowledge and experience with oncology Experience with electronic charting CNA Certified Oncology Nurse [CON(C)] Member of a professional association (e.g. ARNM) Knowledge of Personal Health Information Act (PHIA), Protection of Persons in Care Act, Mental Health Act, Workplace Hazardous Material Information System (WHMIS), Principles of Routine Practices (Universal Precautions) and other legislated acts. Roles and responsibilities of members of the healthcare team., and Principles of delegation. Knowledge and experience with wound care Knowledge and experience with patients receiving radiation therapy Commitment to ongoing professional development Leadership and self-development Ability to speak French
