About The Role
We are seeking an experienced and strategic Business Development Lead to join Socket.dev’s growing team at ROHL Global Networks. This pivotal role is centered on spearheading fiber optic construction projects across the United States and Canada, with a particular focus on dark fiber and turnkey solutions. As the first U.S.-based business development leader within the organization, you will play a critical role in expanding our market presence and establishing strong relationships with key industry stakeholders. The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of fiber optic infrastructure, a proven track record in sales or business development, and the ability to navigate complex negotiations. Your expertise will directly contribute to the company’s growth in fiber optics, edge compute, and data center markets, especially within our Alberta network and renewable energy projects. This role offers an exciting opportunity to lead strategic initiatives, drive revenue, and shape the future of fiber infrastructure development in North America.
Qualifications
Minimum of 8 years of experience in business development or sales within the telecommunications, data center, or infrastructure sectors. Established relationships within the data center and fiber optic industry segments. In-depth knowledge of fiber optic technologies, construction fundamentals, and infrastructure deployment. Strong negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills to build and maintain key industry partnerships. Proven success in originating and closing complex deals, including dark fiber agreements and turnkey solutions. Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment. Authorization to work in the USA is required.
Responsibilities
Originate, negotiate, and finalize dark fiber agreements with clients and partners, ensuring mutually beneficial terms. Identify and develop new fiber optic construction opportunities across diverse markets, including renewable energy projects and data centers. Engage with international clients and stakeholders to expand the company's presence and capabilities in fiber infrastructure. Drive sales of turnkey site and power solutions tailored to client needs, enhancing overall service offerings. Maintain and strengthen relationships with key industry players, including telecommunications providers, data center operators, and infrastructure developers. Conduct market research to identify emerging trends, competitive landscape, and potential opportunities for growth. Collaborate with engineering and project management teams to ensure seamless project execution and client satisfaction. Represent Socket.dev at industry events, conferences, and networking functions to promote brand awareness and generate new leads.
