About the role
Position Summary The Echocardiography Technologist is responsible for performing diagnostic echocardiograms using advanced ultrasound equipment to assess heart function and structure. This role involves capturing high-quality cardiac images, ensuring patient comfort throughout the procedure, and collaborating closely with cardiologists to support the diagnosis and treatment of heart conditions.
The ideal candidate will have strong technical proficiency, exceptional attention to detail, and the ability to deliver compassionate care to patients. Working as part of a multidisciplinary team, the Echocardiography Technologist provides services in both outpatient and acute care settings, contributing to comprehensive cardiac care.
Required
- Successful completion of a recognized course in echocardiography.
- A member in good standing and certified by the CMRITO or Sonography Canada/CARDUP.
- One (1) year clinical experience in performing tests including Doppler and colour flow echocardiograms OR acceptable proof of practical skills.
- Current CPR or BLS certificate, or willing to obtain within 3 months of effective date
- Evidence of continuing professional development. (please list most recent 3 on application)
- Capable of coping with a physically demanding workload. (Physical Demands Analysis (PDA) available to review)
Duties
- Consistent application of Quinte Health’s values.
- Perform adult and paediatric echocardiograms including Doppler and colour flow.
- Complete required paper and electronic patient records based on departmental protocols.
- Ensure patient appointments are handled in a prompt and efficient manner.
- Maintain equipment and supply levels.
- Participate in QA activities related to the department.
- Adhere to Quinte Health’s infection control standards.
- Liaise with physicians, hospital staff and others where applicable and appropriate regarding test results.
- Other duties as assigned.

Quinte Health provides a wide range of high quality health care services to 160,000 people living in the 7000 square kilometre region of Prince Edward and Hastings Counties and the southeast portion of Northumberland County.
