About the role
Position Summary
Manito Ikwe Kagiikwe (MIK) supports women and children affected by systemic marginalization and substance use who have complex health and social needs. Functioning as part of a coordinated service delivery team, the Outreach Worker works proactively with new and existing clients, offering a range of support and recovery services, within an existing service plan and on an as- needed basis. The Outreach Worker is a relationship-builder and advocate and provides service in a non-judgmental and culturally appropriate manner, helping clients to build new skills and achieve their goals
Qualifications
Education Must have a Valid Drivers’ License and access to a reliable vehicle.
Service Delivery Skills, Expertise and Experience Minimum of 2 years’ experience working in community, preferably with program target population Experience providing outreach with hard to reach populations
Critical Skills Proven knowledge and ability in critical thinking, decision-making, problem- solving and conflict-resolution skills
Focus on Results Demonstrated ability to prioritize and focus work-related activities to effectively and efficiently achieve service goals and produce expected results/outcomes
Alignment with Organizational Values Commitment to the principles that guide Mount Carmel Clinic, as reflected in the history, vision, mission and values
Commitment to Reconciliation Knowledge and historical factors that affect the health and well-being of Indigenous individuals and families
Teamwork Proven ability to work within a team environment with respect, professionalism, cooperation, sensitivity and cultural awareness
MCC Philosophies Strong knowledge of diversity, equity, cultural safety, pro-choice, social determinants of health, population health, harm reduction, trauma-informed and community development approaches
Assets Post-Secondary Education in a Social Services field
