About the role

Ganawais a custom steel fabricator and full-service supplier for the bridge construction industry and various other structural steel markets. We offer extensive products and services, including the fabrication of bridge expansion joints and railing systems, and custom steel fabrication. We have an immediate opening for a hands-onShop Foremanin our Steel Fabrication shop.

The Shop Foreman will assist the Shop Superintendent with overseeing shop operations, supervising and training welders and fitters, scheduling and managing structural steel projects. The ideal candidate will have proven leadership capabilities, ensuring quality and on-time delivery of projects.

This is a working supervisor position on the shop floor who requires a high degree of welding and fitting expertise. The successful candidate should expect to weld and fit as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with managing workflows, assigning tasks to fitters/welders, and ensuring project timelines are met.
  • Clearly explain details of each project to the delegated worker to ensure timely completion and minimal mistakes.
  • Ensuring that all processed components, fit ups, welding, etc. are checked for compliance with shop drawings and specs.
  • Coordinate with other departments to ensure seamless project execution.
  • Provide guidance and training on welding and fitting techniques, equipment use, and material selection for custom fabrication projects.
  • Conduct quality checks on welds and fabricated components to ensure compliance with industry standards.
  • Maintain a safe and organized work environment, enforcing all safety protocols.
  • When and where required the shop foreman will be required to assist in working on the fabrication shop floor to complete jobs on time.
  • Perform hands-on welding tasks as needed to support the team and maintain production flow.
  • Promote a positive, accountable, and collaborative work culture.
  • Monitor steel inventory, consumables, and welding supplies.
  • Coordinate with purchasing for timely material availability.
  • Ensure materials are handled, stored, and staged properly.
  • Identify opportunities to improve fabrication efficiency
  • Ensure proper maintenance and calibration of welding equipment
  • Enforce workplace safety standards and company policies.

Skills, Experience and****Qualifications you should have:

  • Minimum 5+ years experience with MIG Welding is essential.

  • Must have CWB Welding Supervisor Certification.

  • Previous supervisory experience.

  • Welding Certificate or Diploma program an asset.

  • Strong ability to read blueprints, knowledge of welding and fitting techniques, with ability to teach others.

  • Solid communication and teambuilding skills with the ability to manage 15+ employees.

  • Promotes a positive work environment and effectively coach and provide constructive feedback.

  • Sound knowledge of welding safety regulations and commitment to health and safety in the workplace.

  • Strong ability to build rapport, establish trust and command respect.

  • Strong attention to detail and excellent quality of workmanship.

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.

  • Must be able to work overtime when required.

Clearwater Structures was established in 2005 by Mike Ciceri, as a branch of Ganawa Bridge Products and Services. With approximately 30 employees in its earliest days, the company quickly grew to over 200 employees including; skilled trades people, engineers, estimators, project managers, superintendents, administrators, among many other specialized professionals that make up the enterprise as it is today. In its first year of business, the company completed 5 successful projects; now we manage over 45 heavy civil construction jobs annually.
