Part-Time Front-Line Custodian - Community Centre

Ray of Hope is currently hiring for a PART-TIME FRONT-LINE CUSTODIAN to join our Community Centre team as soon as possible. Overview The Front-Line Custodian is to ensure that the facility is kept clean and hygienic in all aspects of the program.
Specific Responsibilities
- Manage the upkeep routine in traffic areas, including washing graffiti off walls [indoors and out] as needed
- Ensure property exterior is clear of trash
- Ensure dining room is swept and mopped daily
- Ensure washrooms are clean and sanitary
- Ensure the Community Centre office areas are clean
- Complete weekly cleaning tasks and minor maintenance duties as assigned
- Seasonally care for gardens and remove snow from walkways as necessary
- Clean and set up program rooms, as necessary
- May be required to support the preparation of or the clean up after special events and public forums scheduled at the Community Centre
- Complete other tasks as may be assigned
Qualifications Education
- Grade 12 or equivalent would be preferred
Experience
- Some previous custodial experience would be an asset
Certifications
- WHMIS
- First Aid (training will be provided if needed)
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities Required To Be Successful In This Position
- Able to use detergents and chemical in a sage way as outlined in WHMIS requirements
- Understanding of the Ontario Health and Safety regulations regarding most custodial duties
- A level of mechanical aptitude would be an asset
Requirements
- Vulnerable Sector Check/Police Check
- Valid, unrestricted Class “G” Ontario Driver’s licence
- Ministry of Transportation Drivers Abstract through Service Ontario
- Employment Medical Form including immunization record and fitness assessment
- To maintain annual training requirements for Nonviolent Crisis Intervention, Managing Aggressive Behaviour, Overdose training, Safe Talk, Culture of Poverty
Physical Demands
- Relaxed work atmosphere
- This position will require the incumbent to be standing the majority of the time
- Frequent bending, twisting, crouching
- Occasional heavy lifting with or without use of device
- Will be encountering individuals who struggle with mental health and addiction issues and who may be
displaying inappropriate behaviours, such as verbal and physical aggression
- Will be exposed to biohazardous materials and unpleasant circumstances
- Hour of work will be 20 hours per week, Monday – Friday 7:00 am to 11:00 am
