Service Manager – Applewood Auto Group (Port Hardy, BC)

The Applewood Auto Group is seeking a driven and highly capable Service Manager to oversee the Service Departments at Applewood Ford Port Hardy and Applewood GM Port Hardy.

Role & Responsibilities
- Operational Leadership**
- Set the operational strategy for both Service Departments and ensure alignment with dealership and group-wide goals.
- Oversee daily service operations, workflow, customer care standards, and productivity metrics.
- Team Development
- Recruit, coach, and develop Service Advisors, Technicians, and support staff.
- Build a high-performance culture rooted in accountability, communication, and Applewood values.
- Efficiency & Process Control
- Maximize shop capacity, technician efficiency, and throughput.
- Identify operational bottlenecks, implement process improvements, and ensure adherence to systems and procedures.
- Customer Satisfaction & Quality Control
- Enhance CSI through proactive customer communication, quality oversight, and service excellence.
- Resolve escalations and ensure every customer receives a best-in-class experience.
- Financial & Business Growth
- Drive revenue, gross profit, parts/service absorption, and retention programs.
- Identify growth opportunities, implement department-specific strategies, and monitor KPIs.
- Culture & Alignment
- Foster a positive, collaborative, solutions-oriented environment.

Measurables

Service Department Profitability: Revenue, GP%, ELR, shop efficiency, ROs, utilization, and absorption.

Customer Satisfaction: CSI, reviews, survey feedback, and repeat business indicators.

Team Engagement: Turnover, engagement scores, coaching frequency, and team skill advancement.

Process Implementation: Adoption of standardized workflows, warranty compliance, callback reduction, and efficiency metrics.
Compensation
The total compensation range for the Service Manager position at the Applewood Auto Group is based on a monthly base salary plus a variable profit share component. Depending on performance, our Service Manager may make total compensation between $90,000 to $150,000 annually. This is a combined total salary that includes a base compensation plus bonus. The final monthly base compensation offered will be determined based on the candidate's knowledge, skills, and experience, as well as other relevant factors. Please note that this range is provided as a general guideline and may vary depending on the qualifications and expertise of the selected candidate.
**Relocation assistance is available** for qualified candidates willing to move to Port Hardy.
What We Need From You
- Minimum **3+ years of automotive service management** experience (Service Manager, Assistant Service Manager, or Shop Foreman background ideal).
- Strong understanding of dealership operations, KPIs, warranty administration, and workflow management.
- Proven leadership skills with the ability to motivate, coach, and elevate teams.
- Exceptional communication, problem-solving, and organizational abilities.
- Computer proficiency (DMS experience an asset; MS Office proficiency required).
- Ability to manage multiple priorities across two rooftops with discipline and positivity.
