About the role

Socomec Group(Socomec) is a global leader in electrical equipment engineering and manufacturing, specialized in low voltage energy performance.

Socomec North America(NAM) is Socomec’s organization overseeing all operations in North America.

About This Role

This is a key role within the Production Team that will serve as a proactive and hands-on Production Planner and Scheduler to support manufacturing operations through effective planning, scheduling, and shop floor coordination. This role bridges demand planning, rough cut capacity plan (RCCP) and production execution, converting RCCP into master production schedule and driving supply plan and manufacturing execution discipline through appropriate control processes. This is a dynamic position that will evolve as we refine our tools and processes. The person in this role will have the opportunity to influence how planning and scheduling are done, and explore avenues to make them more efficient and effective through the use of technology.

Key Responsibilities And Accountabilities

Planning & Scheduling

  • Develop, maintain, and release the Master Production Schedule (MPS) weekly, based on RCCP, demand, and inventory strategies.
  • Translate MPS into daily and weekly schedules.
  • Control overproduction in collaboration with the Production Manager and Supervisors, adjusting flow based on actual throughput and capacity.
  • Coordinate with the Demand Planner to align schedules with forecast trends and capacity assumptions.
  • Monitor and report planned vs. actual production daily by work center; escalate bottlenecks and root causes.
  • Develop and release a finite capacity weekly schedule across shared work centers for ETO jobs, applying forward/backward scheduling based on due dates.
  • Drive job sequencing and resource leveling with input from the Technical Lead, Production Manager, and Supervisors.
  • As appropriate, manage periodic control using dispatch lists, arrears tracking, and end-of-period reporting to surface execution risks and gaps. Proactively re-prioritize based on customer needs, constraints, material status, and engineering changes.

Execution & Data Discipline

  • Ensure work orders are created, released, and closed accurately in SYSPRO.
  • Update PACT at agreed upon frequency to reflect current job progress, issues, and actions.
  • Complete all SYSPRO post-receive and job closure transactions including cost-roll-up immediately upon job completion to maintain system accuracy and inventory visibility.
  • Update RCCP at agreed upon frequency to track performance to plan.
  • Maintain scheduling accuracy through BOM/routing reviews and short-interval performance feedback.

Supply Coordination & Execution

  • Support manual BOM explosion, validate routings and lead times, and confirm procurement alignment in SYSPRO.
  • Coordinate closely with Buyers to track long-lead components, resolve PO/system issues, and ensure readiness at job release.
  • Monitor planned vs. actual performance by work center and take immediate action on arrears or disruptions.

Cross Functional Collaboration

  • Work closely with the Technical Lead, Production Manager, and Supervisor to sequence jobs, optimize flow, and allocate resources effectively. Coordinate with Buyers to ensure material readiness and supplier on-time performance to support schedule adherence. Coordinate with the Demand Planner, Inventory Coordinator, and Senior Buyer in addition to Production Managers and Supervisors to ensure alignment across planning, inventory, and procurement functions.
  • Coordinate with Buyers to ensure material readiness and supplier on-time performance to support schedule adherence.
  • Support implementation of visual management boards or dashboards to drive short interval control and transparency.

Essential Qualifications, Experience, And Skills

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a related field.
  • 3–6 years in production planning/scheduling for repetitive, flow, or ETO environments.
  • Strong grasp of work center scheduling, infinite and finite loading, and Lean flow principles.
  • Expertise in finite capacity scheduling, work center loading, and BOM structuring.
  • ERP proficiency (SYSPRO preferred); Excel and/or scheduling dashboards.
  • High attention to system and execution discipline with a continuous improvement mindset.
  • Strong cross-functional communicator and real-time problem solver with a disciplined execution mindset.
  • DIFOT (Delivery In Full On Time).
  • Planned vs. Actual Output by work center.
  • WIP and Finished Goods Inventory vs. plan.
  • Timeliness of daily PACT updates.
  • On-time completion of SYSPRO post-receive and job closure transactions.
  • Work Order Start and Finish Adherence.
  • Material Availability at Job Release.
  • Daily accuracy of PACT updates.
  • Resourceful, innovative and energetic.
