Purpose The Project Engineer reports to the Director, Business Operations & Execution and leads cross-functional teams of SMEs, engineers, technicians, and data scientists to deliver digital and I&C projects in Canada, the US, and LATAM. Responsibilities include fostering collaboration, leveraging team strengths, managing projects independently when necessary, and ensuring solutions meet industry standards and project goals.

Responsibilities

  • Leads and executes the technical aspects of a project scope by coordinating the efforts of SME's, Engineers, technicians, and data scientists.
  • Maintains project schedules, implementation plans, and risk registers.
  • Develops detailed project documentation, including scope statements and technical requirements.
  • Coordinates cross-functional teams to ensure timely delivery of milestones.
  • Monitors budget adherence and prepare regular progress reports for stakeholders.
  • Identifies process improvements, proposes solutions, and oversees implementation.
  • Conducts performance analysis and ensures compliance with safety and quality standards.
  • For smaller projects may solely execute technical scope appropriate to personal skills and experience.
  • Understands and applies industry standards and specifications.
  • Typically leads others as a direct supervisor or through the recognition of functional expertise within the department.

What You Will Bring Technical and Industry Experience:

  • 6+ years of experience deploying I&C, automation, Digital/Technology solutions in an industrial environment.
  • Requires the ability to work independently and to provide consultative advice within specific functional areas.
  • Possesses advanced analytical, technical and problem-solving skills and abilities.
  • Can quickly develop strong awareness of larger team/department strategies.
  • Competent in MS Project, Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, Teams and PowerPoint.
  • Can organize information from many sources and retain as per the prescribed format and policies.
  • Capable of coordinating the strengths of individual experts to deliver an integrated technical solution.
  • Clear and concise report writer.
  • Identify and ensure that key project documentation is correctly captured.
  • Experience working in Mining, Oil & Gas, Chemicals, LNG and Renewables is an asset.
  • Eager to learn and take new challenges.
  • Must be located or willing to relocate to Toronto, Ontario.
  • Willing to travel an average of 25%.

Required Education – Qualifications, Accreditation, Training:

  • A degree in engineering, I&C, automation, mining, digital technology, or data science.
