0.400 FTE K-5 Music Teacher at

Armstrong Elementary School** **

This is a temporary assignment effective September 1, 2026 to June 30, 2027 or to return of teacher to full contractual FTE whichever comes first.

The schedule will be determined in consultation with the principal.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Music degree or equivalent;
  • Valid BC teaching certificate and current membership in the Teacher Regulation Branch;
  • Orff levels, Kodaly levels or equivalent coursework.

Teachers applying for this position should possess the following attributes:

  • successful experience in Elementary Music instruction;
  • excellent classroom management skills;
  • evidence of excellent interpersonal, conflict resolution and communication skills in working with staff, students and parents;
  • demonstrated ability to use a variety of current instructional strategies and assessment methods;
  • working knowledge of the renewed curriculum for the Fine Arts;
  • commitment to stimulating student interest and confidence in learning;
  • ability to teach ukulele, recorder, guitar, orff, dance and choir;
  • demonstrated ability to work collegially as part of a school staff;
  • comfortable planning and executing school-wide concerts and events;
  • ability to relate effectively to all elementary school students;
  • ability to promote support for a school’s Music program;
  • successful recent experience working with students with special needs;
  • current knowledge of and interest in applications of computer technology in the Music classroom.
