Engage is currently looking for a Construction Inspector/Designer to join our Construction Services team. In this role, you’ll monitor construction activities to ensure compliance with contract drawings, specifications, standards, and regulatory requirements. This position requires 40 hours per week during the peak construction season (May-September). During the slower season (October-April), design work hours may be at reduced hours (20) with the incumbent leveraging their banked overtime summer hours.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct site inspections to verify construction work meets contract documents, specifications, and standards.
  • Document progress, deficiencies, and corrective actions.
  • Assist in Contract Administration
  • Coordinate with contractors, project managers, engineers, and municipal representatives.
  • Support quality control, safety, and schedule management.
  • Prepare reports and maintain accurate project records.
  • Prepare engineering drawings using AutoCAD Civil 3D during times that construction activities are ceased due to poor weather conditions.
  • Assists in the writing of tenders and completes construction cost estimates.

Capabilities and Credentials

  • Graduate of Civil Engineering Technology or Technician program with a minimum 3 years of experience in both design and construction would be considered an asset.
  • Knowledge of construction methods, materials, and municipal infrastructure standards.
  • Strong technical documentation and reporting skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team on multiple projects.
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to travel to project sites within 1 hour of Peterborough.
