About the role

The Property & Casualty Insurance Sector is facing a multitude of key trends that are leading it to change and adapt at a rapid pace : accelerating digitization; the growing importance of artificial intelligence and accelerating new technology trends in the P&C insurance sector (e.g. telematics and insurtech); shifting customer needs (i.e., growing demand for personalized experiences, etc.); Growing emphasis on sustainability and environmental, social and governance (ESG) issues; Market consolidation via sustained M&A activity; Pressure on traditional cost structures and revenue streams, etc. The decisions made by industry players to create winning conditions for the future are critical. Like a team of external strategy/management consultants, our business strategy team focuses on growing and improving the business through strategic planning and execution by guiding the organization's key stakeholders in making major decisions. As Senior Corporate Strategy Advisor within a major insurer, you contribute to strategic planning and various complex strategic thinking projects. You facilitate decision-making at the senior leadership level by developing credible, fact-based analyses to support recommendations on the best corporate strategy to adopt. You analyze issues based on business needs and context and help identify and evaluate strategic options, while also being involved in the facilitation process leading to their selection. You effectively and succinctly articulate complex ideas verbally, in written form, and with slides/charts. You must have strong analytical skills, including the ability to collect, analyze and interpret data to inform strategic decision-making. You work with different stakeholders, so you need to be able to collaborate with cross functional teams, including technical specialists, subject matter experts and senior decision-makers. You need to influence them and gain their trust. This position involves working on complex files (strategic planning, mandates with business sectors, performance monitoring) and interacting directly with the executive committee. You may also be asked to provide functional supervision, coordination, and leadership for teams of junior advisors. More specifically, you will be required to:

  • Act as the lead and content expert on the analysis of strategic issues within mandates whose scope and impact are major for the organization and may be broad. In most mandates, coordinate a team of professionals.
  • Advise and support other vice‑presidencies in the positioning, development, execution, implementation, and follow‑up of various strategic mandates under your responsibility.
  • Ensure strategic monitoring to understand and anticipate industry trends in insurance (e.g., InsurTech, competitor niches, consumer expectations) and make appropriate recommendations to support the development of best practices for the organization.
  • Ensure efficient use of methodologies and tools to achieve project and mandate objectives; develop performance indicators and monitoring methods; identify issues and make recommendations to relevant stakeholders.
  • Contribute to the development and evolution of policies, standards, models, and programs supporting the unit’s strategic projects and mandates.
  • Negotiate, when required, agreements with decision‑making bodies of external companies or organizations.
  • Work with the organization's senior leaders to develop and implement strategic plans, as well as make recommendations that promote growth and improvement.
  • Analyze and interpret data to guide the decision-making process.
  • Analyze markets and industries to inform decision-making on critical initiatives for the organization.
  • Build strong relationships with key stakeholders and work with cross-functional teams to implement strategic initiatives.
  • Stay informed and contribute to the analysis of industry trends and emerging technologies by assessing their potential impacts on the organization.
