About the role
Date: Oct 24, 2025
Location: Montreal, CA
Company: Klöckner Pentaplast
The Company
Klöckner Pentaplast (kp) is a global leader in sustainable packaging and specialty films, recognised for driving innovation and meaningful change across the industry. We believe that the need to act on climate change has never been more urgent — that’s why sustainability is embedded into everything we do through our #InvestingInBetter initiative. From extending product shelf life to reducing carbon footprints, our work helps protect both products and the planet.
The Opportunity
We’re now looking for a Business Development Manager to join our North America Food Packaging team — someone who shares our passion for partnership, innovation, and results.
As a Business Development Manager, you’ll play a key role in shaping kp’s growth in the food packaging market. You’ll take ownership of key customer relationships, identify and develop new business opportunities, and deliver sustainable value for both kp and our clients.
You’ll collaborate across functions — with Sales, Operations, Marketing, Quality and Innovation — to design and execute account development strategies that strengthen our market position and deliver on our sustainability promise.
What You’ll Do
- Manage and drive the profitable growth of designated customer accounts.
- Develop and execute Account Development Plans in close collaboration with internal stakeholders.
- Plan and conduct customer visits efficiently and consistently.
- Take full ownership of the sales pipeline process — from lead generation to contract negotiation.
- Build strong, multi-level customer relationships to win new business and ensure long-term success.
- Negotiate customer contracts in collaboration with the NA Sales Director and internal stakeholders.
- Monitor and report on competitor activity within your market.
- Support financial forecasting (volume and margin) and ensure profitability targets are met.
- Promote and sell new, sustainable packaging products and services.
- Maintain accurate customer data using CRM and BI tools (Salesforce, SAP-BW, Power BI).
- Contribute to the growth and collaboration of the wider NA Food Packaging sales team.
- Drive value-based selling — presenting packaging solutions that demonstrate the unique value kp creates for customers.
What Success Looks Like
- Deliver results in line with the defined sales and profitability targets.
- Maintain a strong customer pipeline with measurable growth opportunities.
- Demonstrate continuous improvement in personal and team performance.
Your Attributes
- Results-driven, with a genuine passion for developing business and building long-term relationships.
- Solution-oriented — focuses on customer value, not just price.
- Proactive, optimistic, and collaborative — thrives in a team environment.
- Organised and analytical, making thoughtful, data-based decisions.
- Agile and adaptable, comfortable working in a fast-paced, performance-driven culture.
- Self-motivated and ambitious, with the tenacity to meet and exceed targets.
- Strong communicator and relationship builder, both internally and externally.
- Structured, disciplined, and consistent in applying processes and tools.
- Confident in leading initiatives and taking ownership of outcomes.
What You Bring
Experience
- Strong business acumen and proven account management experience.
- Ideally, experience within the Food Packaging or Food Science industry.
Technical Skills
- Proficient in Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, Salesforce (or other CRM), SAP-BW, and Power BI.
Why kp?
At kp, you’ll join a business that’s transforming the packaging industry through innovation, sustainability, and purpose. You’ll work alongside passionate people who believe in making a measurable impact — for customers, communities, and the environment.
If you’re ready to grow your career while helping drive a more sustainable future, we’d love to hear from you. #LI-REMOTE
