Yee Hong is one of the foremost providers of culturally appropriate senior care in the country, delivering high-quality resident experience and care to Chinese and other Asian seniors since 1994. The organization operates 805 long-term care beds and 308 seniors’ apartment units, with an additional 224 long-term care beds opening in a new home by June 2026. In addition, Yee Hong offers four campuses of managed care, a hospice residence, and a wide range of community-based senior and caregiver support services. Through this comprehensive network, the organization serves more than 15,000 individuals annually across the Greater Toronto Area.

Core Function:

Assists the Director in coordinating a high quality nursing care service that complies with relevant

government legislations, policies and standards, and reflects the organization's resident centred

approach, vision and strategic direction.

Responsibilities:

  • Assists the Director in coordinating high quality nursing services
  • Coordinates staff recruitment exercise to ensure adequate staffing to meet the needs of the Nursing Department
  • Ensures compliance of staff scheduling policies and procedures
  • Oversees resident care of the assigned units including monitoring, communication with residents, families and prompt intervention
  • Coaches, develops, evaluates and appropriately deploys staff to ensure a strong, effective and efficient team with good morale
  • Assesses training needs of the department, and coordinates staff development programs, including orientation, in-service and certificate programs for the professional and nonprofessional nursing staff, to ensure a strong, effective and efficient team to ensure a strong, effective and efficient team
  • Provides leadership and coordinates the RAI-MDS, CQI, Infection Prevention & Control, Restorative programs, and Health and Safety programs, as assigned, in the Department
  • Reviews policies and procedures relating to nursing and resident care and health and safety issues, and recommends changes to the Director as necessary
  • Coordinates and ensures accurate and up-to-date information management system for the Department
  • Coordinates special programs or projects as assigned
  • Implements effective risk management and quality improvement programs, including infection control, occupational health and safety, incidents and falls, etc.
  • Acts as back up to the Director of Resident Care in his/her absence
  • Works closely with the other Assistant Director of Resident Care, and acts as his/her backup when required
  • Keeps up-to-date with developments and best practices in the field
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

  • Registered Nurse with current Certificate of Competence from the College of Nurses of Ontario; Bachelor's degree in Nursing; or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Minimum 4 years nursing experience, including experience in Geriatrics, Rehabilitation and Long Term Care Nursing, and three years supervisory experience in hospital or long term care
  • Current CPR Certificate
  • Strong leadership and administrative skills
  • Computer literacy required
  • Satisfactory Police Reference Check (with vulnerable sector screen) result
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills in English, and fluency in Chinese and understanding of Japanese an asset
