A career as an Associate or Associate Director within the Fixed Income Financing desk in the Global Securities Finance (GSF) team at National Bank of Canada (NBC) involves trading various financial products with market participants and managing associated risks. You will strive to generate revenue using limited resources and grow the franchise by building trusting relationships.
Your Job
-
Generate profit through executing funding transactions with counterparties: repo, securities lending, bond forwards, total return swaps, structured trades

Monitor and hedge market, liquidity and counterparty credit risk using available tools such as interest rate swaps, futures and FX transactions

Analyze and price cross-correlation of various risks for complex transactions; able to understand trade related legal documentations

Maintain and improve trading tools; spot and fix potential operational lapses

Keep up with market updates for trade ideas generation and business growth opportunities spotting

Build strong relationship with counterparties

Communicate closely with other departments to provide clients with seamless coverage

Work closely with middle offices and operations team to manage the life cycle of trades

Understand financial resources such as balance sheet, liquidity and capital ratios; generate trade ideas to optimize financial resources for the bank

Be familiar with regulatory rules and internal risk controls; work together with internal teams to ensure strict abidance

Able to deliver results under pressure and maintain strong integrity at all time
Basic Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in finance, economics, mathematics, engineering, law or another complementary discipline with at least three years of relevant capital markets experience
- Strong interest in securities finance products and markets
- Relevant experience with fixed income securities, market or credit risk
- Excellent analytical skills with strong technical background
- Fast learner, able to pick up new knowledge and skills as market develop
- Attention to detail and strong risk management mindset; able to multitask, work with strict deadlines and make decisions under time constraints
- Strong ethics and interpersonal skills; agree to NBC values, be a team player and treat all parties with respect
