Blacksmith Bakery is seeking an energetic, motivated, and hospitality-driven Floor Manager to lead our team at the Langley Airport location. The ideal candidate is an experienced leader who thrives in a fast-paced environment, maintains exceptional standards, and inspires their team to deliver outstanding guest experiences every day. This is an on-site, hands-on position, and the successful candidate will actively lead shifts on the floor to ensure smooth café operations.
About the Role:
As Floor Manager, you will oversee daily operations during your shifts, uphold Blacksmith Bakery’s service and product standards, and ensure the café runs efficiently. You will lead and train staff, manage scheduling and inventory, and support the Front of House and Pastry teams. This is a highly interactive role that requires a strong communicator and proactive problem-solver who takes pride in cleanliness, organization, and team accountability.
Key Responsibilities
Operational Excellence:
- Ensure all opening, closing, cleaning, and supervisor routines are completed to Blacksmith Bakery standards.
- Conduct daily Bake-Off routine according to company procedures and communicate any product or quality issues to the Pastry Department Head Chef’s.
- Maintain pristine and well-stocked showcases at all times.
- Continuously monitor the café floor to ensure tables are cleaned, bussed, and reset promptly; maintain cleanliness across all guest areas.
Team Leadership & Training:
- Lead, motivate, and support Front of House staff to uphold the highest standards of service and hospitality.
- Delegate tasks effectively and keep the team focused during both peak and slow periods.
- Train new team members and provide ongoing coaching for staff and Shift Captains; ensure all new hires are signed off by the Store Manager once training is complete.
- Conduct performance reviews and disciplinary actions in conjunction with the General Manager.
Guest Experience:
- Ensure every guest is greeted and served according to Blacksmith Bakery service standards.
- Resolve customer concerns promptly and professionally, escalating to the General Manager as needed.
Administrative Responsibilities:
- Manage staff schedules, approve shift swaps, and handle sick calls while preventing overtime triggers.
- Complete opening and closing cash routines (Manager/Assistant Manager/Shift Captain only).
- Communicate professionally across all channels (email, WhatsApp, internal communications) and follow up with Store Manager, GM, or Ownership as issues arise.
Inventory & Vendor Coordination:
- Handle Front of House ordering to ensure sufficient stock levels throughout the week.
- Coordinate with Culinary and Pastry teams regarding cutlery, paper goods, cleaning supplies, and other café needs.
Required Skills & Characteristics:
- Strong leadership, communication, and customer service skills.
- Ability to work well under pressure in a fast-paced café environment.
- Highly organized, detail-oriented, and capable of multitasking.
- Positive, energetic, and team-oriented attitude.

- Comfortable performing tasks such as cleaning, garbage handling, stocking, and equipment upkeep.
Physical Requirements:
- Able to lift and carry up to 50 lbs safely.
- Able to stand for extended periods and work around heat-producing equipment.
- Must be available for early mornings, weekends, holidays, and occasional long days.
