Opportunity

MacEwan University is seeking an Insurance and Asset Administrator for a full-time continuing opportunity with our Financial Services.

The Insurance and Asset Administrator will address the administrative insurance requirements for the University. This includes the annual renewal, coordinating onsite inspections, certificate of insurance requests and assisting with claims. You will coordinate the maintenance of the University’s fleet as well as provide analysis and recommendations for replacement of the fleet. You will also assist the Manager, Capital Planning, Projects and Asset Management, in reflecting changes in capital assets within Fixed Assets Module of the ERP.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Review and assess internal insurance inquiries, consult with external insurance providers and respond as needed;
  • Provide certificates of insurance as requested and maintain incoming certificates of insurance;
  • Develop and maintain appropriate insurance policies/standards, processes, and guidelines (including, but not limited to, annual insurance planning calendar, process documentation for IVS and wraparound insurance renewal, development of fleet management program);
  • Consult with internal stakeholders regarding reported incidents to assess potential for claims, recommend appropriate course of action, and as needed, initiate claims with insurers, and coordinate submission of supporting evidence to insurers;
  • Ensure asset purchase, cost adjustment, and disposal information is entered accurately and in compliance with capital asset policy;
  • Review and perform analysis to determine asset classification information to ensure proper accounting treatment;
  • Review capital and expense accounts to ensure proper classification of asset transactions;
  • Coordinate and track the maintenance requirements of the university’s fleet; and
  • Maintain a fleet inventory with details pertaining to maintenance requirements and remaining useful life.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • A diploma in insurance, risk management, business or related field.
  • A minimum of three to five years progressive experience in a post-secondary insurance, risk, or compliance environment.
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
