Why we need you

At CCS we are committed to improving the cancer experience by helping people with cancer live their lives more fully. The Canadian Cancer Society Relay For Life brings together communities united by the same goal of creating a world where no Canadian fears cancer. Relay is an opportunity to celebrate those who live and have lived in the face of cancer.

What we're looking for

  • You understand that cancer can change everything and that bringing community together in support of people who have been affected by cancer helps us prove that life is bigger than cancer.
  • Your careful financial management in lead up to and during Relay For Life will contribute to a credible and well-run fundraising effort that inspires confidence from our donors and the public.

  • You are ready to lead a small group of volunteers in the management of registration and financial logistics.

Our Investment

You will also be supported by the Relay Director, Logistics, a fellow volunteer, who will oversee all aspects around implementing the actual event day.

You will be part of the larger Relay community and have opportunity to learn and mentor as you engage with CCS staff and volunteers.

Your commitment

  • This is an important leadership role. We are anticipating an ongoing level of commitment which will include regular monthly meetings with the entire committee.
  • Between the committee meetings you will become familiar with the financial procedures and platforms used at Relay. As the event approaches you will ensure that your team is in place and ready to facilitate seamless intake and reporting procedures.
  • You are agreeing to initiate and respond with regular, consistent communication between the other volunteers on the committee whose responsibilities overlap with yours and with the Relay Director, Logistics.
  • As the event date approaches your time commitment will increase and on event day your leadership, as you ensure the event is safe and fun, will be critical in creating the sense of accomplishment that everyone will go home with, knowing that their actions have created something bigger than cancer.

About Canadian Cancer Society

Non-profit Organizations
1001-5000

What does it take to take on cancer? It takes all of us.

We all know the saying ‘It takes a village.’ But to take on cancer, it takes more than a village. We believe it takes a society. It takes a community – of patients, caregivers, healthcare providers, researchers, advocates, donors, supporters and volunteers – rallying together around a shared cause.

Profound impact is possible when we combine our actions with the actions of others. Our goal at the Canadian Cancer Society is to inspire people of all ages, from all backgrounds and all parts of the country to come together to take on cancer’s biggest issues.

Nothing big gets solved by one person. To take on cancer, it takes all of us. It takes a society. 💛
