Position: Full Time Security Guard

Site: Stelco Inc

Hours: Continental Nights (1800-0600)

Payrate: $18.54/hr.Averaging Agreement: Overtime is AA after 88 hours

Job Description:

  • Deliver professional, courteous customer service to all visitors and staff, fostering a respectful and inclusive environment.
  • Promote a welcoming atmosphere aligned with site standards and positive interactions.
  • Patrol parking and site areas to ensure safety, manage traffic flow, and deter unauthorized activity.
  • Identify and report hazards, violations, and facility concerns promptly.
  • Enforce site policies and by-laws while addressing disruptive behaviour professionally.
  • Respond effectively to incidents, emergencies, and unusual situations.
  • Use strong communication and de-escalation techniques to resolve conflicts.
  • Maintain accurate reports and logs in compliance with PSISA requirements.
  • Perform access control duties, including credential verification and issue escalation.
  • Monitor alarms and CCTV, coordinating with security teams and reporting concerns to management.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum 1 year of prior security experience.
  • Valid Ontario Security Guard License.
  • Valid Standard First Aid & CPR Level C certification.
  • Must be comfortable with a dashboard camera recording device installed and operating in the company vehicle at all times.
  • Legally authorized to work full-time in Canada.
  • Able and willing to stand, walk, and patrol (on foot or by vehicle) for extended periods.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills & decision making skills
  • Capable of working in a fast-paced, dynamic environment, both indoors and outdoors.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and emotional intelligence, able to work effectively in a team setting.
  • Must be able to provide certifications in Use of Force (UOF) and Management of Aggressive Behavior (MOAB)
  • Applicants who do not possess these certifications can opt into Paladin's Use of Force (UOF)/Management of Aggressive Behavior (MOAB) training program prior to their onboarding training to ensure they meet the requirements of the position

Please be aware: The UOF/MOAB certification is not paid as it is a pre-employment requisite; however, Paladin will cover all the costs of the training with a 6-month commitment to the position/availability.
