About The Role eHealth is seeking a highly motivated, creative communicator to help shape how we connect with patients, health care professionals, partners, employees and future talent.

Reporting to the Director of Communications, you’ll play a role in planning, executing and evaluating a variety of key projects, including eHealth’s intranet, website , and eHealth’s accessibility plan. As part of a small collaborative team, you’ll influence strategy, lead projects, and produce engaging content in a variety of formats. You’ll gather and interpret social media and web analytics to measure effectiveness and help inform strategy.

Typical daily duties:

  • Planning, managing and writing social media content
  • Responding to citizen inquiries via social media and email
  • Producing engaging visuals for internal and external audiences
  • Leading design, development and maintenance of eHealth’s website and intranet
  • Creating content for a variety of communication channels
  • Helping eHealth maintain a consistent brand presence

What are we looking for? The knowledge and skills required for this position would typically be attained through the completion of a post-secondary degree in Communications, Journalism, Advertising, Marketing/Digital Marketing. The successful candidate will also have at least three years of experience in a relevant Digital Communication/Marketing role. An equivalent combination of related education and experience may be considered. Experience working in government and membership in a professional association such as IABC are assets.

Skills include:

  • Strong working knowledge of M365, as well as graphic design, content management and social media tools
  • Experience managing social media
  • Ability to prepare materials for print and work with vendors
  • Ability to simplify complex concepts visually and in writing
  • Working knowledge of accessibility standards
  • Experience with video creation and other multi-media projects is an asset

Competencies Technical:

  • Ability to create written and visual communication materials using a variety of software applications, such as Microsoft Office, graphic design tools, and content management systems
  • Strong working knowledge of Adobe Creative Cloud suite, video creation and editing software, and web analytics

  • Ability to design, implement, manage and evaluate strategic communication plans
  • Communicate information to a variety of audiences to persuade, convince, build support, educate, change behaviour, or promote understanding
  • Ability to clearly and concisely compose and edit a variety of content to provide information and explanation to others

Leaderships:

  • Ability to get work done through others, taking into consideration priorities, employees’ workloads and skills
  • Ability to coach and guide third party stakeholders to achieve desired outcomes

Problem solving:

  • Ability to clearly define problems; select and apply appropriate methods to communicate response

Analytical:

  • Ability to identify and frame key issues and messages by gathering, analyzing and integrating conflicting and sometimes incomplete information from numerous sources; strong research skills

  • Ability to develop and maintain relationships with a diverse range of people

Team/independence:

  • Ability to work independently and participate as a leader/contributing member of a team to ensure goals and objectives are met

Organizational:

  • Ability to plan and balance diverse and conflicting workload pressures, accomplishing assigned tasks within established timeframes and budget. Strong attention to detail and time management skills.
