A day in the life of a Secured Legal Account Manager:

  • Collect and action legal support on all Secured Personal Loans 60-180 days past due. Including managing inbound and outbound collection calls, emails, texts, etc.
  • Prepare, email, and sail soft demands on Secured Personal Loans that become 30+ days past due.
  • Prepare demand letters and engage/manage third-party law firm vendors to hand deliver the demands when Secured Personal Loan becomes 60+ days past due.
  • Review 90+ days past due Secured Personal Loans, to recommend and action hard demands once approved.
  • Manage all incoming Secured Personal Loan mail including notice of sales, property tax arrears, condominium arrears, and other legal notices received through email and mail. Action each notice accordingly including opening a file in our third-party vendors portal as per each type of legal notices requirement.
  • Manage the funded Secured Personal Loan portfolio through the lender in priority power of sale/foreclosure process, up until the home is sold, and our Secured Personal Loan lien is discharged from title.
  • Provide funded Secured Personal Loan payouts when legal fees are incurred to recover these fees at time of pay out.
  • Manage the funded Secured Personal Loan legal files, including skip tracing, submitting for judgment, and eventual garnishment when warranted and approved by your manager.
  • Coordinate communication with third-party vendors/law firms on funded Secured Personal Loan legal files, manage timely file closures and invoice payments, and follow up on outstanding recovery payments to prevent unnecessary charges.
  • Manage document compiling for Title Insurance and/or Fire Insurance claims.
  • Preparation of weekly legal submissions report.
  • Provide legal support and direction to the branches and collections department.

What we are looking for:

  • 1-2 years in a similar role would be considered an asset.
  • Post-secondary education in related field would be considered an asset.
  • Knowledge of mortgage products and their unique legal requirements is an asset.
  • Collections or court clerk experience would be an asset.
  • Familiar with small court claims and superior court procedures.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks, multi-task, and meet deadlines.
  • Analytical skills, ability to identify problem areas, and identify solutions.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and computer literacy.
  • Ability to work three days onsite per week, from our Mississauga office.

Additional Requirements for Internal Candidates:

  • You must have been in your current role for 9 months.
  • Have the endorsement and support of your current manager.
  • Must not be currently under corrective action or within 6 months of any previous corrective action.
  • Must be achieving or exceeding the required level of individual performance in your current role.
