Here Is What You Will Be Doing As a Senior Research Associate, you will lead the design, execution, and dissemination of high-quality program evaluations and reporting products. Your work will directly support program design, policy development, quality improvement, and evidence-based decision-making.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the design and execution of evaluations using advanced methodologies.
  • Develop and apply advanced epidemiologic, statistical, and qualitative methodologies.
  • Design and implement data collection instruments like surveys and interview guides.
  • Manage projects effectively, including developing work plans, timelines, and status updates.
  • Synthesize complex evidence into actionable recommendations for clients.
  • Communicate findings through advanced written, verbal, and graphical skills.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert on evaluation and survey design.
  • Engage and consult with a wide variety of stakeholders.
  • Provide ongoing status updates and feedback to leadership.
  • Resolve problems, identify risks, and escalate issues as needed.
  • Contribute to research and evaluations within Ontario Health and with external agencies.
  • Develop new tools, methods, processes, and training materials.
  • Train and mentor staff in program evaluation.

Education And Experience Here is what you will need to be successful:

  • Completion of a graduate degree (e.g., MPH, MSc, PhD) in epidemiology, public health, health sciences or a related field of study. PhD is an asset.
  • A minimum of five years practical experience leading program evaluation, performance reporting and/or research in a public health or healthcare setting is required.
  • Experience with Ontario healthcare databases and datasets is an asset.
  • Experience with survey design, dissemination and analysis is an asset.
  • Experience with qualitative data collection and analysis is an asset.
  • Demonstrated experience in scientific publishing is beneficial

Knowledge And Skills

  • Advanced analytical and interpretive skills. Proficiency with data analysis software (e.g., SAS) is an asset.
  • Exceptionally detail-oriented with strong problem solving, critical thinking and negotiation skills.
  • Superior and demonstrated communication skills, including listening, written verbal and graphical communication skills, with the ability to deliver technical reports and presentations effectively to a wide variety of audiences.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Highly productive and motivated; demonstrated ability to work independently in a self-directed manner with minimum supervision.
  • Ability to work on multiple initiatives and prioritize competing assignments to meet timelines.
  • Collaborative with the ability to work in a multi-disciplinary team environment; experience working directly with clinical experts and/or health care administrators preferred.
  • Comfortable working in a dynamic, fast-paced environment with a degree of ambiguity.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office products and survey tools (e.g., REDCap).
  • Strong knowledge of program evaluation, research methodologies, reporting requirements and data management principles.
  • An understanding of Ontario’s health care system with particular emphasis on population and public health approaches, theory and practice would be considered an asset.
  • Familiarity with cancer screening or the cancer system in Ontario is an asset.
