Senior Research Coordinator, Psychiatry
About the role
The Department of Psychiatry in the Cumming School of Medicine invites applications for a Senior Research Coordinator. This Full-time Fixed Term position is for approximately 12 months (based on length of grant funding), with the possibility of extension.
This position reports to the Principal Investigator and works closely with academic, community, and healthcare partners across Alberta and Canada. The role entails overseeing a diverse and high-impact portfolio of research and network-building activities. It requires the ability to coordinate across multiple stakeholders, manage timelines and budgets, and ensure strong communications and knowledge translation outputs. Workload may vary depending on grant cycles, funding deadlines, research timelines, and stakeholder engagement. The role may involve occasional travel within Alberta or nationally.
Summary of Key Responsibilities (job functions include but are not limited to):
Project and Network Coordination
- Lead day-to-day project operations across multiple sites and teams, ensuring deliverables are met on time and within budget
- Develop and maintain project plans, tracking tools, and progress reports
- Coordinate ethics submissions, data sharing agreements, and related research processes
- Maintain a research participant registry, including recruitment, consent, and data management
Clinical Trials
- Support committees in developing terms of references, recommendations, standards, training modules, evaluation criteria and templates
- Plan and execute internal evaluations for committees and the platform
- Prepare annual reports for review by an arms-length advisory group
Communications and Knowledge Mobilization
- Assist with design and implementation of strategic communications plans
- Translate complex research findings into accessible materials for youth, families, service providers, and policymakers
- Lead the creation and dissemination of newsletters, infographics, social media content, annual reports, and knowledge products
- Coordinate KT events (e.g., webinars, workshops, partnership dialogues)
Stakeholder Engagement and Partnership Development
- Maintain and grow relationships with network partners across academia, healthcare, community services, and lived experience groups
- Support co-design and engagement activities with youth and caregiver partners
- Act as a liaison between researchers, partners, and the leadership teams
Administrative Leadership
- Manage project budgets and contribute to funding applications and reports
- Support meeting scheduling, minutes, and follow-up actions
Qualifications / Requirements:
- Master's degree in health sciences, public health, psychology, or a related field preferred
- Minimum 3 years of progressive experience in project coordination or management in a research, healthcare, or academic setting
- Knowledge of clinical trial operations and the ability to support research activities across various phases of a study is a strong asset
- Demonstrated experience with knowledge translation and mobilization, including co-design, stakeholder engagement, and dissemination of research to diverse audiences
- Strong experience with communications strategy and implementation (e.g., newsletters, websites, social media, partner updates)
- Excellent interpersonal, organizational, and relationship-building skills
- Strong writing, editing, and presentation skills
- Understanding of youth mental health systems, research methods, and clinical trials is a significant asset
- Experience working with equity-deserving groups, and a demonstrated commitment to principles of equity, diversity, inclusion, and accessibility
